Arrow Mini Declutter - April 4 - April 10, 2016

Ended last week's thread, so starting this week's...

The purpose of this thread is:

Mini Decluttering.
Pick something you can accomplish in a week.
Big projects can be accomplished by baby steps.
What can be done in a week to make your environment better?
What irritating project can you put to rest this week?

Talking I want to thank

I want to thank gardenerjoy for starting us off this week and BillBlueEyes for making things tidy.

Now, I did nothing on my massive list last week. This week? I'll have to make it more of a priority. DH has been doing the dishes and I feel so guilty dirtying dishes! Ugh. Anyway, it's a solid base to move forward on.

The chaise is now *stacked* with containers and the piles on the floor are growing. Why is that? What am I doing wrong? I need to put things away or throw things away or give things away. The level that the cat lives at is really getting smaller and smaller. Poor guy. We are all happier when the space is more open. It really is time to get at it this week.

I'm going to move the stuff off the chaise before I pick DH up at work at 5:30.

Exclamation I did not, but I will.

I didn't declutter the surface of the chaise but I will today.

What this really means:
1) put completed ceramic objects in bins/boxes (5 of these) away in back cupboard yes
2) move paintings into area for paintings
3) sort/clear whatever is left yes

KITCHEN
1) put away dishes from dish drainer --yes
2) wash rest of dishes-- yes
3) clear counter tops-- yes
4) clear stove top --yes
5) clear table top --yes
6) clear floor under the table --yes

I will report back in on this today.

Back at home. I aim to clean the bathroom floor this week. For an encore, I will do the kitchen floor. If there is tumultuous applause I will do the garden room floor.

It's only declutter light, but I faced six trips from the first floor to the third floor with DGD stuff and Easter Basket stuff after having the "kids" over for a late Easter dinner this recent Sunday.

First I put it off.

Then I, slowly, made six trips from the first to the second floor. Where the stuff sat.

Today, I heroically dragged the last of the six trips up the remaining floor.

So one small task is done.

Default Oddball Items

Well, I am Clearly among achievers, so I'd better get my rear in gear. Not truly decluttering but clearing out somewhat and tackling what is on my oddball list for the next two days:
~ Return shoes to Kohls. Not $$ but think I need to go up a half size, and they're sold out. They are on further sale now, so I wish it was available. I keep trying to convince myself to keep them because they're cute, bright, colorful, flat, and will go great with capris, but there is a wrinkle in the seam that will drive my toe nutty. Unwise if they won't be comfortable and a waste of money in that case. Debate=done.
~ Track down spring property tax bill that is now provided online.
~ Haul stack of magazines in to work (they go quickly here).
~ Clean out fridge/wash shelves and bins/discard any old dressings and condiments.

And for Silverbirch - YAY!! Whoo Hoo!

Still keeping up with my 10 minutes a day. It still manages to move me forward. Credit.

I've been focusing on short spurts in the yard, too, weather permitting. Things are shaping up and most importantly, I notice. DH is going to help me with yard work before he heads to Denmark. I'm excited about that.

'Tis my news.

Well, two items are marked off that earlier list of four - found the property tax bill online and it's due in a month. Also brought in magazines to work, so a few more items are out of the house. Figured I'd do the fridge clean up before marketing tomorrow, and will get the other errands run (recycling dropped off) as well. I was this close to just donating a few bins of comic books to clear out the space, but then decided to check ebay and then think, well ... MAYBE ... they're not in good shape, but piling a bunch together as a "lot", well ... maybe. Why do I struggle with this? Bins of comic book digests, too ... I always figured I'd have kids who'd want to read them ehhh. Now I think, well, if either of us lost our job, this could bring in a bit of coin. Very little, but ... I locked myself up on this one.

Minor step: Local recycle day where ANYTHING is accepted.

We drove over with two tires (both mounted on rims), and three boxes of paints, thinners, obscene pesticides that DW no longer believes in.

All gone!

Oh, wow, Bill - someone can make some $ off your rims - unless they're bent, I guess But BOY i wish we had the paint drop off because we have set days/times you can drop them off ... and none are convenient if you work weekdays. I got two huge bags of recycle dropped off, too ...

Default Progress last week -- ARGH this week coming up!

Hello … I didn’t run away – I was on a mini-vacation for the last week. I always try to do something for me – for my birthday I’m back!

Sounds like you folks have been getting a few things accomplished … here is for you all (especially the one that requested applause )

So, even though I was on Vacation I did some “decluttering” and finishing tasks.

1) I decluttered my life. See I always try to fit too much into my week. And, I do for everyone else and not for me. That’s just what I’ve done for most of my life. I had volunteered to care for a friend, in another city, once she came home. However, I had to bow out because I would have stopped caring for myself – and I HAVE TO lose this weight for my one health. What good would it be to help someone else’s health and continue to neglect my own? So, I uncluttered “old habits!”

2) I have been attempting to file papers for the big D with my DH. We were separated for 6 years, then got back to try it again in 2011. We’ve been separated again now since Sept ’14. My one friend says it will be another 6 years and I won’t have the papers filled out. WELL!! THEY ARE DONE! I finished them while I was away! More old habits uncluttered – and uncluttered “emotions and baggage!”

Today, I scrubbed the bathroom sink and vanity. It’s all shiny and pretty! I like the look of it and I want to keep it up … FOR ME! And, it’s beautiful!

Tomorrow:
- print papers, meet with DH and sign papers, make copies.
- work at church library – cataloging books
- finish dishes

Tuesday:
- process papers at the courthouse
- meet with friend and help her with paperwork
- meet with another friend – help with a budget

Wednesday:
- meeting re: woman’s conference
- bible study
- work in the library again
- supper with a friend

Thursday:
- help elderly man with business papers
- do taxes for a friend
- go with a friend to a meeting re: Soc Sec

Friday: ARGH!!!!! I wonder why I don’t get anything done!!
I have to finish my own taxes!!

I have to STOP this ‘everyone else’s’ stuff! I have to purge for a move in the near future.

CALGON TAKE ME AWAY!
No one does it to me – I am the only one who makes my schedule!
CRAZY WEEK ahead of me!
See you in the new thread!
Keep up the good work!
-Gail
