Default I ran my first 5k race yesterday!

I still can't believe it. What an awesome feeling. A little over a year ago I couldn't walk 1/4 mile without my calfs hurting so badly I had to stop. Yesterday I ran a very hilly 3.1 miles. My goals for the race, in order, were 1. To finish. 2. To be upright when I crossed the finish line, as opposed to crawling or on a stretcher. 3. Not be last. All accomplished, including my stretch goal to be under 45 minutes, which I beat with margin to spare.

Once I got to the race, I realized my "not be last" goal was ridiculous. Just finishing was better than not even signing up.

Couch to 5k got me started. Nonameslob and autodidact from the Exercise board pushed me the rest of the way. Thank you ladies!

Congratulations!! That is awesome. I am so glad you met your goals. I myself have just started c25k . I just signed up for a race in October. I think I may adopt your goals!

Great write up and well done! I did couch to 5k some years back and did a couple of 5k's. I have issues now with my feet and not sure if running is in my future but hope one day to do one again.

Maybe it's a goal for next year - thanks for the inspiration.
