Beach Chat on The Eve!
Good very early morning! I am about to go into overdrive since I have 14 hours before the crowds arrive.
My house is NOT all decorated but the Bling Tree is ready, there are some outside lights and splashes of Christmas decor here and there. Still a few gifts to label but I've learned from years of experience that it will all get done and Christmas still comes without 32 kinds of cookies and decorations in every nook and cranny.
So, tidy up the kitchen, find the punch bowl, get the gifts into the car for distribution tomorrow when I go to Jim's in-laws holiday brunch and try to round up some friends and delegate. Joanne is picking up my veggie tray, Rob is getting the champagne, Jason is supposed to change the kitchen light bulb and I am delegated to pick up the Christmas centrepiece in the next town.
Quote:
Every Who down in Who-ville, the tall and the small,
Was singing! Without any presents at all!
It came without ribbons! It came without tags!
It came without packages, boxes or bags!
And he puzzled three hours, `till his puzzler was sore.
Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before!
"Maybe Christmas," he thought, "doesn't come from a store.
"Maybe Christmas...perhaps...means a little bit more!"

Gotta love Dr Seuss!
Enjoy your day and magic evening.

I'm taking a nap after Ruth's post.
Unfortunately for me, I'm either wearing my collar too little, or doing too much, because not even my fabulous drugs took me away last night. Guess I'll have to change some things today, and I am utterly grateful to the people bringing my dinner tonight .
I *almost* had DH drop me off at the mall, just to experience a bit o' Christmas this year. We do have a tree up (and he bought me the Willow Tree Nativity Scene I really wanted), but I didn't experience all the displays, music, and hustle and bustle. I'll make up for it next year .
We will be going to Christmas Eve service tonight, it's a candlelight one , and I definitely have a lot to be grateful for!
I wonder how much sleep the kids will get tonight?!?

I slept in an extra 1/2 hour this morning, but I DO have the first load of laundry going.
Ruth, I'm sure everything will fall into place for your bash tonight, and that everyone will have a wonderful time!
Tammy, it sounds like you might be overdoing it, and I'm glad you didn't go to the mall! I've seen and admired the Willow Nativity, and how nice for your DH to get it for you! I hope you get some relief from the pain today and are able to take a nice long nap so you can enjoy the beauty and wonder of this evening.
I must dash over to the Giant for bread for dinner, and do a quick tidying of the house, but other than that, I'm good to go! Everyone will start coming around 2pm for the start of our several hour long Italian Christmas Eve meal and will stay until it's time to go to Midnight Mass.
Tomorrow morning we'll watch Amber & Tyler open their presents before Jake and I drive over to NJ to Monica's for brunch. My DGD, Caitlyn, and her boyfriend are home for the holidays, and I'm looking forward to seeing her! Then it's back to here in time to make our Christmas dinner, and my Dad will be joining us for that.
From my house to yours, a very Cheery Christmas Eve!

Good morning, chicks!
Things are under control here although I need to run out for some milk. I was also hoping to pick up 1 item for DS1 but we will see if I get to it. I also have 2 or 3 gifts to wrap and need to make the pea soup and meat pies for tonight.
Ruth, I am sure your party will be a success and no one will notice the things you wish you got done.
Tammy, take it easy today. How great that dinner is being delivered.
Cottage, have a great day.
Off to find coffee. My barista (DH) is a bit slow this morning.

Good morning.
I was supposed to work out with my mom and trainer today (instead of Friday) but my mom had to cancel to have her oven repaired. Instead I'll be going into work for 4 hours. Hoping it will be busy!
I must get to the grocery story since it closes early today and isn't open tomorrow. I haven't done any shopping for food since our guests left and have nothing for tomorrow! The big challenge - what I can feed to both my vegetarian husband and carnivore son. Nothing comes to mind.
We opened gifts last night while skyping my other son. My husband is just so bad at shopping for me, even after almost 30 years. I wish I didn't end up disappointed every Christmas. He does try, I'll give him that. One example - he bought me the same exact spicy hot cocoa mix that I got him, from a local chocolatier. He had it before and liked it; I enjoyed one sip of his at the time. Well it has 500 calories a serving! He should know by now that I never choose to drink my calories. Sigh.
Must get myself off the computer and ready for work.
Happy holidays, all.

Karen, long ago I gave up on receiving the perfect gift; after 25 years DH and I just agreed to buy our own. You always get what you want that way!
Hope your time at the store is busy but not crazy and good luck planning dinner.

Good morning Beachy friends and a happy Christmas Eve to those who celebrate. I am back! After many, many weeks of 12 hour days 7 days/wk I finally finished for the year last Wednesday. then it was off to NY to celebrate the holiday with my folks. Now we are back in our little home for a quiet holiday. DH works second shift tomorrow but has today off. We will have lunch out then seafood scampi with brown rice pasta for dinner followed by the annual viewing of It's a Wonderful Life. even with all the craziness it really is
Yesterday was my baking day. I made Christmas Crack (Ruth's recipe) for Tim's coworkers. I made it two years ago and now they request it. I made my own version and even got some gluten free cereal for him. After that I made almond cookies with chocolate drizzle, a few almond chocolate candies, chocolate covered coconut snowballs, Elana's paleo fruitcake (a favorite around here, great with a cup of coffee or tea), and chewy ginger molasses cookies. Not much SBD friendly but most will be given as gifts. I just love the baking.
We decided not to do gifts here this year. We are giving donations as gifts for family and realized we just don't need more stuff around here so no big splurges.
Okay, time to get moving. My back took the biggest hit during the long work stretch and I can only sit for half an hour or so.
Enjoy your day whatever you are doing

Hi everyone!
Have a great rest of your day, everyone, and I will be here early tomorrow. We left home at 6 this morning to beat all the ski traffic...it was just starting. It was a good trip then we went right to the pool, then to deliver several things. Now I am sitting on the couch with my Chrhstmas present (Kirby). Church tonight then laid back day tomorrow since we had our family gathering last week.
Enjoy wonderful moments, friends!

Yes and he is sitting in my parlour right now. We are sipping champagne and waiting for midnight when the animals talk! Merry Christmas, Beach Babes!
