Default How to clean and care for a treadmill

So I bought my very first treadmill the other day I know this may be a silly question to most, but it came with some white grease and it made me think about proper care to ensure I get the most out of my treadmill.

Do you wash or clean any part of the treadmill besides cleaning the sweat off? Do you wash or grease the belt?

This is all very new to me,

Thank you!!!

I've been a treadmill owner for about 14 years (two different treadmills). I've never done maintenance on then. At least for my first treadmill, I think the user manual had some suggestions on routine maintenance. We paid more then $1,000 for each treadmill -- so I expected that they should hold up well (and I feel we got our money's worth).

Once (maybe twice), in 14 years we had to have a tech. come and repair our treadmill but the repair didn't seem to have anything to do with not doing regular maintenance.

Once a year, I take the cover off of the motor and roller area. This way I can clean up all of the dust that has accumulated. I then lubricate the rollers and anything else that needs it. After that, I replace the cover and shoot some non-oil based silicon spray under the walking belt to keep that in good working order. The last thing I do is replace the battery in the brain box to assure accurate readings.

I've had this treadmill and used it regularly for over 15 years, after buying it used for $150 from a little old lady (true story). I did have to replace the walking belt and rollers last year, but I think that would be considered normal after all those years.
