Default Cold hands and feet

Hi everybody! I was wondering if anyone on IP has experienced really cold feet and hands. My feet and hands are icy cold all the time. Cold enough that is it uncomfortable. They sting and burn. I got off work yesterday and had to but a heating pad on my feet to get them warm. I have heard it is an effect from the ketosis. Would really love to know if others have the same problem. I have lost 108 pounds to date and have went from constantly sweating to icy extremities!

Yep - think about it...you have just stripped away a HUGE layer of insulation from your body in a short period of time! And when your core gets cold, the first thing the body does is channel heat from the extremities (hands and feet) to keep the core at a more consistent temperature.

You might find you need to wear warmer clothes more often than you did before losing the weight, as we get into the winter months. I find that drinking hot herbal tea helps immensely too - my office is ALWAYS cold to begin with so that's how I stay warm!

Thanks! As a big guy, I was always hot! I used to joke and say I was going through 'Man'opause. But now that I have lost the weight, I never sweat anymore (which is a blessing) but now my fingers and feet gets so cold that they almost hurt! They say "Cold Hands...warm heart" maybe that's it. But where does my icy feet come into play! Had to go to bed a couple nights ago with socks on! bawhahaha!

I don't know either, Mine will stay freezing even under a blanket, It takes another source of heat to actually warm them up. I refuse to wear socks to bed lol just can't do it

Yes, I am ALWAYS freezing. I was cold before I lost weight too though. I keep a blanket under my desk and throw it on my legs when I am sitting on my desk at work!

A symptom of ketosis is being cold.
It is also a symptom of low thyroid function.

Low cal diets can be hard on thyroid (temporary for most). Get it checked just to rule it out.
