Default Husband still losing past goal...

My husband started IP about 8 weeks ago around 195...his goal was 170. He met that goal about 3 weeks ago so he has gone through phase 2. He continues to lose weight and pretty quickly...this week alone he has dropped 3 more lbs....bringing him down to 165! He is not necessarily eating exactly what you should in phase 3 but he is eating plenty....plenty enough that he should not still be losing weight. For example, yesterday he had a shake in the AM, 2 handfuls of almonds, broccoli, 1/2 small rotisserie chicken, a bar, then for dinner he had chicken with salsa and cheese with cucumber/tomato/onion salad.

I am a bit worried. I told him today to eat carbs....not sure what to do to get the weight loss to stop! Any advise?

So he's still in phase 3? Is he not eating the phase 3 breakfasts at all? I continued to lose in P2 and P3 and lost a couple of pounds after switching to maintenance but I'm holding steady now still a few pounds lower then my goal.

When he gets to phase 4 he can increase his calories to the level that he needs to maintain and not lose. There will be trial and error so he may gain back the lbs that he lost in phase 2 & 3.

Adding carbs now is not the solution.

I will never fully understand a man's metabolism.

That being said, he's still eating pretty low carb, and it sounds like he is eating healthy! Good for him for making the right eating choices :-)

Fat loss or gain is always an equation of energy. It doesn't matter how "much" your husband eats it matters how many calories he eats compared to how many his body uses.

If you're worried he has a medical problem you should consult a doctor. 99.9% chance that he just needs to eat more calories. As a food doctor, I reccomend Pizza Hut to nip this problem in the bud.

If he's only having a shake for breakfast, then it doesnt' sound like he's following the phase 3 protocol - a P3 breakfast should be around 400-500 calories and incorporate protein, dairy, grain and fruit in a particular balance. It is VERY common to continue to lose weight in Phase 2 because there's only about a 100-200 calorie difference between P1 and P2. P3 increases the calories by 300-400 with the breakfast, so if he's not getting enough calories by eating a correct P3 meal then he would still be losing weight.

My hubby's goal was 150 until I told him he could still lose in phase 2 and 3. he changed it to 155 and phased off then. He continuted to lose but now has stayed pretty steady between 150-152 in maintence.

My hubby is 5'10... so I was worried when he got down to 150 that he would go lower... so I know about being worried. BUT it should level off I know my husband's clinic was going to up his carb and fat intake if he kept losing 2 lb a week.
