You are just too clever!!!!! Tiling finished? You'll soon be off to NZ I expect. You will give us all ideas about new avatars but I'm just not equipped or clever enough to do something so cool. I just learned how to use the 3FC avatars. Hope you are having a good day. Ann

Love your avatar Maria. You and Lily speak a language I cannot follow. Maybe someday....
You were cute at 5, beautiful at 25 and lovely at 58.

Smile From Down Under.

Maria - I also am very impressed with your new avatar. Where you come up with the ideas I will never know. How about convening a class to teach us poor gals just how you do it. I am sure that you would make a good teacher, this I know as you taught me a lot that day you came out here.

Trudy Great to see you again, it seems like ages since I saw any posts from you. How is the little angel?

I have been very frustrated these last couple of days as the hard drive in my computer is playing up - one day it turns on and then the next it won't even go on. It is also freezing on me. Has anyone got any suggestions?

Well ladies take care all.

Jenye.

G'day all,

Thank you for your kind words about my new avatar!

All I can say is that I have spent countless hours following tutorials etc. to learn to do these sort of things, not particularly clever but very persistent and determined not to let it beat me
Of course the fact that these past 3 years I have had lots of time to do this whilst living away from home, also has something to do with it!
I cannot speak for Lily but I think she would probably agree with me to some extent.

When I am home permanent, I would like to teach the basic use of computers to more mature age groups .
Everything is so simple..........when you know!
There are many things I want to do when I am home permanently, I still haven't discarded my wish of an embroidery sewing machine. DH likes the idea of teaching basic computing skills but finds the embroidery sewing machine a bit of a waste, but that is men for you, he cannot relate to wanting an embroidery sewing machinge

Hopefully my tiled porch/verandah will be finished next Wednesday and then only another week before I leave for NZ. I need to transplant some roses and replant some hedging plants before I go. Spoke to dh last night, no firm date yet of our return home, could be July, could be August or September. Oh well, that's life

Jeney I can understand your frustration with your computer. My s-i-l had similar problems and found a young fellow in her local paper that came to the house to fix computers. He re formatted her hard drive and all has been well since. His pricing was also very reasonable as he did this just to supplement his income whilst doing computer studies at Uni.
Perhaps that could be an option for you.

It is a cool day here and the first day of winter. The outer areas of Adelaide experience frost on occasions, but where I am near the beach, the temperature never gets that low. I think what we have is a meditteranean climate.
Went to watch ds play football yesterday, about 1 hr 15 drive from my place. It was beautiful day of 21 degrees and I drove with the top down in dh's 'dream machine'. Just gives you an indication what our winters are like!

Have a great day all
Cheers
Maria

Love the new Avatar Maria!

Me spend countless hours doing tutorials.
Nah.............

Always doing them when something DH is watching TV and it doesnt interest me.
Which is 99% of the time

Triudy: Good to see you. My sisters site crashed. So if you are looking for the page its gone. She finally got a new place to move it to but it doesnt have the features the other did. So I dont have space any more. Sorry...

Hi Everyone

My sister goes back to Florida tomorrow, then I can be a more contributing pal.

Okay, Maria, you never cease to WOW me with your computer talents. Nice going on your new Avatar.

I have not had time to read all the posts since I was here last, but will do so as soon as time permits.

Tomorrow is my weigh-in, and with all the "special" meals we've been having, I have got to steel myself for a gain. I can do this! I will do this! Back on the straight and narrow.

See you soon.

Marnie

Hi Everybody

Maria I love your new avatar. You look great at all the ages. I don't think I have seen anybody else do their picture like that anywhere on 3FC. Of course I don't wander much from our own board.
I went shopping a couple of days ago with my dil and we bought 24 yards of upholstering fabric.....I offered to help re-cover their sectional sofa that's in the family room. Sjhe chose a light blue/grey fabric and then later will make brightly coloured toss cushions. The way the sectional is made there are 4 big seat cushions, 1 huge corner seat cushion, and then 12 back cushions that are fitted (staped) on the back of the sofa. I worked on them for 12 hours hours yesterday. I had some hand sewing to do to close the cushions so I decied to take them outside this afternoon and do them there and get a bit of sun on these white legs of mine (really white this summer since we didn't go away in the winter). I went outside at noon and came in around 3:00 and I see now that I have RED knees and nothing on my legs because the big cushions covered that part of me. OH BROTHER I started this post a while back and then DH and I decided to go out for a quick bite to eat so that is why I can now see these knees of mine. It was sort of a lunch/dinner so I treated myself to a nice hamburger and a DIET cola. The little gal that waited on us assured me that if you have a diet drink it cancels out the calories in the burger.
I enjoyed reading all your posts. We got a call from our family (they took the boat out to the lake yesterday) and it works fine and they were having a great time. DS bought one of those three seater Sea Doo tubes that you pull behind the boat and the grandkids are anxious for Papa to come out and go tubing with them. Well everybody, that's my news...talk to you soon. Bye now.

G'day all,

I am soooooo angry The tiler did not turn up today!!
I rang to find out what has happened and the tiler has mucked up his knee.... so he says. Knee is supposed to be all better tomorrow and he will get here tomorrow.
There is still 3 days work before it is finished and I want to do some planting which I can only do when it is finished and I leave for NZ in about 10 days.
I have been very patient and been very nice to the tiler, I figure I win more bees with honey than vinegar but this morning he knew I was NOT HAPPY.
Are tradesmen this unreliable at your end of the world??? I dare say so, it is very annoying and puts you off having anything done.

Marnie hope all went well with your weigh in.

Slavika what a mammoth job!!! I am sure it will look great when it is all finished but the thought of attacking 24 yards of upholstery fabric is a little daunting, to say the least!
Good luck to you dh in one of those tubes, I have seen them and they look a lot of fun but perhaps not for the fainthearted.

I am off to the osteopath again this afternoon, back/hips have been quite bad again Though not as bad as before.

Hope I can report tomorrow that the tiler has come

Cheers
Maria

Thumbs down June Already.

Hi All:
Maria: I think we have the same sort of frustsrating problem with tradespeople and also repair people. It really gets my 'goat' when they say they will come sometime between 1:00p.m. and 5:00p.m. and you stay home all afternoon and they don't show or even call to say they were delayed.

Slavika: Are you going to go tubing too? Be sure to get some videos of the experience. : You are very brave to tackle 24yds of material, but I know you are very clever so it probably wasn't even much of a task for you. Watch out for those red knees?

Marnie: Hope the weigh-in wasn't as bad as you projected. I have decided now to go only once a month as that is all that is required of me as a life-time. Now that I am going to Curves, I hope I'll get some assistance there as well as the WW plan. Had to have blood work done today to check my cholesterol and my white blood count. it has been low. Dr. gave me 6 mo. to have it start going up or he will send me to a specialist. I'll know on Thurs.

Hope you all have a good week. Ann

Just wanted to chime in here for a minute. The tradesperson thing ---When my Dad was in the hospital they needed some plumbing repairs done before he came home. 2 of my brothers waited around 1 day for this plumber guy to show up. The next day one brother called the father of the plumber. Wanted to know what the hold up was.(father does the office work)Anyway the mans father says I'll call him again. My brother says I've got a better idea you tell me wherehe is and I'll go get him. The plumbing was fixed that day. To bad every time isn't that easy.

I've got to go. been stopping in to read but been too busy to post. One day my life will be my own.

Happy Tuesday all you Chicks

My sister left yesterday and she talked our ears off! It's good to be back to somewhat "normal" living now.

Ash|Jenye We can work together to beat the "weight monster." Yesterday at WW I was up .4 - which wasn't too bad since we really ate "whole hog" with my sister here. I've got to remember to make the right choices with the right portions.

Lily, how was the dentist? Hope it wasn't anything major.

Glenda, I'm not good with water, either. I also drink alot of coffee during the day. How did you ever stop smoking? I understand that's the hardest addiction to quit. Nice going!

Ann, how often do you do Curves? My sister says it's very controlled and you have to do certain exercises for a certain time frame. Is that how it works with your Curves?

Hey, Maria - everyone loves you at 58, 25 and 5!!!!
Sorry about that tiller of yours - I think you should not pay him due to his delay! Are you still getting the Light and Easy? I remember when WW was giving out "food" to have for meals. I never tried them. We would all love to have a computer class from you!

It's hard to believe it's winter there. We're just starting summer here.

Karen, any news on your dad? Hope he's on the mend.

Well folks, I better start getting something done! I'll catch you all later.

Marnie

Good Morning:
Marnie: Go to Sam's Club and get some Fruit 2/0 It is not caarbonated, just plain water with flavoring. I like the lemon and orange the best.

About Curves--There is a circuit of machines and you do three times around the circuit. She changes the order usually once a week. You go from machine to a stepping block, to the next machine and you do it when you are told to change stations. It takes a bout 30 minutes. All really good exercise. Maybe you would call that controlled, but I like it as there is no guess work. When you are finished then there is a series of stretches to do. Another thing I like is that there are no men, like there are in many gyms. It is nice to be with women as we all have the same basic problems.

today is one of those days, Curves, then a massage and this afternoon I get my hair cut and a perm. No rest for the wicked they say.:

Hi Karen: Glad to hear your Dad is home from the hospital. Hope he continues to do well.

See you all later. Ann

Hey, all, forgot a PS earlier

Do you have a ritual you use for your body| face, etc. regarding moisturizers and skin care generally? I'd be interested in knowing what you do. I usally put on lotion after showering and bathing; and use a moisturizer after I wash my face before blush & liptick.

Re: Tradespersons - you know you can call the Better Business Bureau with a complaint and they will issue that information to the company. Plumbers especially can really stick it to you. Some of the time frames: we'll be there between 1 and 5!!! Pluuzeee!

Karen, we must've been posting at the same time. Glad your dad's home.

Ann, thanks for the info on Curves. It's great that it's just for women (regardless of what Anna Sorensten thinks!) I will try to get hold of some of the Fruit 2/0 water - thanks for the suggestion. (I would love a massage!)

Later - Marnie

Slavika: Oh my what a huge project! Will be beautiful when done Im sure! You are very crafty!

Maria: Dont blame you for being mad. They always give you a 4 hour window to go by and then then dont show up. WOuld me mad myself. Had it happen way to many times!

Karen: Good to see you. How is your Dad doing? Glad he is finally home.

Ann: Keep us posted on what the Dr says. You seem to be really enjoying Curves.

Marnie: .4 is nothing. Sounds like you had a great visit with your sister! Dentist was nothing. Just had to have a few OLD cavitys replaced. My ritual. I use Nozema for my face. Always have as I have very sensitive Face skin. Use Oil of olay for a mositurizer.
Also use Oil of Olay body wash and any old lotion after.

Later!
