Welcome, Maggie. The first suggestion I would make is to peruse this site and read a lot of the threads. You'll find a lot of support, ideas, and most importantly for me, motivation. In terms of dieting and losing at our age (and I'm in my 60s), it's a matter of finding what works for you. Throw out whatever the "experts" say because most of what was tried and true dieting advice is not being refuted. And, at a rate of 1-2 pounds a month, you'll be down at the end of the year.
