Default Dehydrator

Morning,
I bought a dehydrator this week. I'm trying my hand at making zucchini chips. Anyone else use one? Any tips?

I've made an IP friendly beef jerky.
Jerky recipe:
1/4 cup soy sauce
1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
1/4 cup worcestershire sauce
2 tsp liquid smoke (get one without sugar)
1 1/2 tbsp steak seasoning rub (I use Montreal Steak Spice)

Marinate thinly sliced beef for overnight or 1-2 days. When placing it on the dehydrator, sprinkle with a little more steak seasoning. Dehydrate 8-10 hours depending on your machine.

I've done sliced mushrooms as well. I take the dried mushrooms and grind them up in my magic bullet then add the powder to sauces or soups as a bit of a thickener.

Zucchini, mushrooms, kale, etc. also dry well and then rehydrate into soup. I haven't tried tomatos, celery or leeks yet but that would also make great soup supplies.

Last summer I dried herbs from my garden and some fresh fruits as well in preparation for having them when I soon hit maintenance.

Try jicama sliced very thin. Sprinkle a little Splenda and some cinnamon on top. Tastes like apple pie chips!

PS - best to use a mandoline for slicing so every slice has equal thickness - that way it is all ready at the same time.

Thanks Lizzie, remembered a part of a jicama in the frig. It's now in there dehydrating.

I do beef jerky. I like Hi Mountain seasonings (www.himtnjerky.com). They have some 0-0-0 seasonings that are really good.

Just getting back into dehydrating again after 20+ years. Not too many recipes yet.

These sound great thanks! So far I've done zucchini and mushrooms. Ate the zucchini as chips and put the mushrooms in the leek soup for lunch tomorrow.
