Default Cholesteral got worse?

Had bloodwork done in Dec 2010 for the start of a weight loss plan (just eating better, counting calories, this through a health center at work). Lost 25 pounds. Then in Aug 2012, started the Ideal plan, now down another 25.
(I'm 52 yo woman)

Got blood work done last week. And I'm shocked, not necessarily in a good way?.

Cholesteral went from 195 to 228 (was normal, now high)
Tri went from 171 to 135 Thats a nice drop!!!!
HDL went from 49 to 58 (less than 50 is risk, 60 is optimal, so thats good)
LDL went from 112 to 143 (was optimal, now high)

So a 50/50 report?

Why would the cholesteral and LDL go up? My bloodwork was completed on a 16 hour fast. (had dinner the night before, test was at 10am)

Are comparing current results to ones you had 2 years ago and you think it's because of IP?

It would probably be a more accurate comparison if you had tested right before starting IP and then again now. You may have had some changes in your choloesteral prior to starting IP and now have known it.

Did you get blood work done after your initial weight loss plan?

If "eating right" was an increase of grains and a reduction of lipids this has been shown in clinical studies to raise your cholesterol.

I'm with the other two responders. Stick with the plan to goal and get it checked again. That will give you a better comparison.

You could very well be on your way DOWN and not know it

As a younger adult my cholesterol was around 150 even though I had an extra 25 pounds and ate fried food with veggies cooked in a touch of bacon grease daily. Now I am very careful about my food, but my readings are borderline at 220. This change was due to 'the change' as my body isn't making estrogen which seems to help in that area. It could be that in the past 2 years your estrogen levels have dropped which allowed the cholesterol to rise.

If your last bloodwork was in 2010 and you JUST got it done again, there is a very high chance that you were elevated going into IP so it's hard to say what is really going on. Your best bet would be to get checked again within the year, talk to your doctor about how soon would be best. At least then you will be comparing two recent results.

Bloodwork is not 100% accurate. You said you were "normal" at 195, but you were only 5 points from being considered "high" so it is not exactly like you went from the middle of the range to high. What I always say to people who are worried about their cholesterol is JUST TAKE THE STATINS. Your cholesterol will drop like a rock and you will be done worrying about it.
