Default Coach says no to Mio...thoughts?

So my coach says not to add Mio to water because it contains "sugar alcohols". I'm sooooo tired of plain water. What are your thoughts? Will this compromise my weight loss? Thanks for any ideas.....

My thought is a rhetorical question.
Why are there so many different answers from different coaches?

I say try it, if you like. If it seems to affect your weight loss, just don't do it anymore. I have it occasionally - maybe 4 - 5 servings a week and it doesn't seem to have any impact. By the way, I really like the sweet tea and the lemonade.

Artificial sweetners, by themselves, will not affect your weight loss.

My Godson is on IP and his coach said he can have it. I am doing alternatives and have been using it since day one without any issues.

Not all sugar alcohols are created equal. To lump them all together seems to me to be very uninformed about how they impact you. There are charts all over the place that show how specific sugar alcohols will effect your body.

But having said that, unless I am misreading the ingredients for the MIO, I don't see any sugar alcohols listed. I would go ahead and use it, if it causes you to have cravings then stop using it. Simple as that.

My coach rec crystal light, no more than one a day. I'm trying MIO this week. I have tried different things and it is doable and doesn't seem to affect my weight loss so far but then Im a newbie. This week I'm switching to EAS carb advantage drinks and ordering bars from nashua foods. I guess I'll see how this change goes. I know my budget will enjoy it!!!

I understand what you are saying! I personally think the problem comes because coaches are letting their own personal prejudices come into play.

Some coaches think all artificial sweetners are extremely bad for you so they ban a lot of the helpful products we could use.

Some coaches think if you eat your carbs early in the day you can burn them during the day (popular thinking) so they require you to eat your restricted in the morning. But that just isn't true and Dr Tran Tien Chanh explains it well in his booklet.

The only way IP can correct all the misinformation is for us to make sure they know when a coach is giving out wrong information. But the only way for the clients to know if their coach is wrong is to have the IP information in the first place (or know someone who has access to that information).

So what can we do? After checking with all the great folks here, I say challenge your coach to verify what they are saying with IP. And if they get upset with you or defensive about the issue, get a new coach!

As a newbie- this post is so helpful. Thank you and I'm off to the store to buy some MIO... only 3 days of water and I am already tired of it! Can you put lemon in your water? Is there a limit?

I use MIO regularly. There aren't any sugar alcohols in it. I lost 17.5 lbs the first month so I'm not about to stop using it. I need something sweet to end my meal!

I have not used it, but my coach says I can.

I actually appreciate that this diet has forced me to drink water. It's all I've had to drink for nearly 6 weeks now, and I'm glad. I used to drink at least 6 diet cokes a day before this. I knew it wasn't healthy, but I didn't think I could survive without it. This diet has taught me otherwise. I think adding Mio or Crystal Light would have defeated that purpose for me, but I know others think that it helps them.

I use Mio sometimes. I use it when I am out with others and they are drinking. I use it when I want something sweet after a meal. But most of the time I drink plain water. It is better for me than the additives.

I just had my WI. My coach asked if I was using Crystal Light, I said no I use Mio. She suggested I go without it this week to see if it makes a difference. I lost 2 lbs this week. I only have 5 lbs to go and I think she is trying to see if I can get a big loss next week.

You HAD a big loss. You lost 1.6% of your body weight. That is about what I lost (1.68%). I weigh more so the lbs will be more for a similar %. We need to stop looking at the actual pounds on the scale as the be-all/end-all!
