Default An alternative question

There are seriously about 12 'alternative' threads, I've tried searching through...I have a question or two...

Costco Premier Protein shakes are ok on P1? I want to supplement my IP foods while saving a little bit of $$..

EAS Carb advantage or edge is a better choice than Premier Protein?

My coach never discussed net carbs, sugar alcohols, etc., so I don't know how to figure things out. I have learned more here than in my 13 weeks with my coach!

Thank you!!

You can do a quick search / google and find the nurtrional label
for both online and compare them. You can see the actual label for each.

I use eas low carb advantage.

It's just preference - I prefer the eas taste.

what I am looking for is a minimum of 15gm of protein, and less than 9 carbs per serving? If there is fiber, I deduct that from the total carbs and that's what net carbs are?

So, I could have something that is 19 carbs, but has 10 gm of fiber (theoretically), so it has 9 gm of net carbs, and would be unrestricted?

Thanks!

That's basically correct. You may find my blog helpful - it's below in my signature line. I've been on alternative products for the majority of this process, and my blog is designed to help those going the alternative route.

I have used EAS Advantedge since I started IP. I feel it is a great product, great taste. The Rich, Dark Chocolate is particularly good and you can get it from Walmart. It is only a few cents more than buying at a wholesale club and much better tasting than the chocolate fudge, I think.

Here's the basics that you want to look for:

at LEAST 15g protein, but not more than 25 (otherwise you start pushing into TOO much protein or have to reduce your dinner protein)

8g or less net carbs for unrestricted (Net carbs is total carbs minus dietary fiber). If you're getting a shake, it should be well under that.

Under 200 calories

The EAS Carb AdvantEDGE are VERY close nutritionally to the IP shakes. I've heard the same about Premier shakes, but I stick with EAS beacuse I can get those at the wholesale store for $26 per case of 24.

I've had both and they are equally good. I use the Premier ones from Costco most often and they have 160 cal and 30gr of protein, whereas the EAS ones have 17gr of protein both contain 11 oz. also!

The Premier ones fill me up so much better than the EAS ones but both are good, especially the dark choc fudge EAS ones.

I had my 1st EAS carb-advantEDGE today for my snack. I was drinking it all worried that something bad was going to happen to me...like my coach would jump out of the closet and fire me from the program, lol

What is the consensus on sugar alcohols? My brother's coach told him no way, but a lot of the alternative products have them, minus the Pure Protein shakes. I keep EAS bars at work in case I forget my lunch pure protein shake, but now I wonder about them.
