Default Scale is going up - Help~

My husband and I have been on the diet for 6 weeks. I messed up and we had stewed tomatoes for our restricted veggie day last thursday. I added the tomatos to chicken, mushrooms and bellpeppers. He has gained this week now. This is very expensive, and I am having a hard time keeping him motivated. I could use some ideas/advise etc.

Also - Banana peppers... Can we have them? They have no sugar, fat, calories. But they do have 2 carbs per serving...

I am sure he loss inches...tell him that the scale is ONLY a number....ask him...is he feeling better? are his clothes looser?...Smile and tell him YOU see a difference and you Love him then give him a big hug and kiss!...tell him you are PROUD of him and what he is doing and that together y'all are making a solid change in y'all life

I am in my 7th week and I am also struggling with no loss. I hear so many times on here that we will have a slow down around this time. That is keeping me going for now. Just knowing that it is normal is a huge help. Thank you WUV2 for all your encouragement and advice for all of us! Will you be my coach?

Some of the legal veggies make me retain water too, so I've learned over these many months which ones to avoid, especially the day before my WI.

You and your husband may just be retaining water, which is always a temporary thing. Just up your water if you can and avoid some of the restricted veggies if need be.

He has gained 2, which I know is not a lot, but it is still a very emotional thing. I hope to have a better week next week. I am glad to hear that it is typical to slow down at 6 weeks. Thanks for all the help wuv2bloved - i have read tons of your advise and it always helps

As DanafromAustin said - drink lots of water - my husband had the same problem, upped his water intake and had a great loss the next week. Both of you hang in there

it takes 3500cals to gain ONE lb...it is more than likely just water retention. next week it will come off....

Which veggies made you retain water? Maybe that is part of our problem.

Maybe there was a lot of salt in the stewed tomatoes if they were canned.
that might make you retain water.

So far I have found turnips and brussel sprouts are a sure bet to make me gain. I agree with Lisa, there is no way for your husband to have actually gained weight on IP as the calories are way too low for that. Your husband is looking at water retention for sure. Up the water and watch the water weight go away.

Turnips and Brussel sprouts do that to me too!

Asparagus is a great diuretic. I eat it almost every day.

This is a process that takes time. You will see some ups and downs, but overall the scale will continue to drop on phase 1. Give it time.
