I am going to put a roast in the crock pot for dinner tonight. My plan was to season it and put it in the crock pot with some beef broth, onions, mushrooms, turnips and celery and then serve it with some mashed cauliflower. However, I was looking at my phase one sheet and under select veggies it has onions (raw). So should I omit them or can we use them to add some flavor but not eat them?
Also, I do not see Jicama on my sheet. Is it okay to have in phase 1?

This is interesting and perhaps my coach gave us "old" sheets. Mine says at the top that Phase 1 will be followed until 90% of the goal weight. The egg count (discussed on another thread) is also different. So I guess maybe she has out dated material?

Thanks in advance for any input, suggestions etc.
I would omit the onions from your crock pot. Use other spices to flavor the roast. (garlic?)
I know that jicama is on the new sheet - and I love jicama. But my coach did not know about the new sheet and so she didn't know about jicama being added. I'm going to wait until she sees it (and, of course, I'm forwarding it to her!) before I eat it, though.

When onions are cooked, they release sugars, hence the term "carmelizing onions." I would definitely skip them.
Well my coach happened to call to check in on us and I asked her. She said as long as they are getting cooked into something else and not getting caramelized we are good to go. The roast smells delightful, and the best part is that we can cut the roast up into portions and have it later in the week.
