because im on the phase 1 alternatives i make sure to keep count of carbs and protein..
So far..i average 20 net carbs(mostly coming from veggies) and i average between 15 and 20 grams of protein per packet i use( RTDs, whey protein shakes)
However, if you are following the true phase 1 protocol, you should not be counting anything..its all worked out for you..just follow the sheet...
Reason I ask is because a drink can have as little as 2-3 carbs or 3x the amount such as the chocolate drink. So at the end of the day, i think it matters. For me, my day consists of a drink in the morning, meal packet for lunch, and a drink around 3-4 p.m. then my lean dinner. So if I had 2 choc shakes(2 =18 g) carbs vs. 2 Blueberry cran drinks at (2=10 g) thats twice as much. Im just scared about falling out of ketosis.

If you are using IP products or IP-comparable alternatives you will NOT fall out of ketosis if you are using your 1 restricted + 2 unrestricted packets every day, no matter how you divvy them up. You cannot have 2 blueberry pom drinks a day, they are unrestricted but also do not have complete proteins like the other drinks. Just follow your sheet and TRUST THE PROGRAM. It is doctor created and meant to work as it is laid out.
During my first week, I kept detailed records of my intake to satisfy my own curiosity. After that, I don't bother, because I trust in the program, and simplicity was one of the reasons I chose it!
Daily averages based on 1 week:
Fat: 17g
Cal: 912
Carbs (net): 31
Protein: 118
But if you're following the plan, what does it matter?
There's no need to have any fear of falling out of ketosis - just keep on truckin' and stay on plan.
You'll for sure reach where you want to go if you stay on the plan.

I am a total nerd and use the Ketostix (but just like daily weighing, I don't let them upset me) and according to the stix, the bars can knock me out of ketosis for an hour or 2....and I lose ~3 lbs a week still. Just follow the sheet and don't worry about it. I figure I pay enough to have them do the worrying for me. Just because you intake less carbs does not mean you will lose faster necessarily, so don't worry about it!
Also, I've read those Blueberry cran drinks are only meant to be had every other day because they don't contain all the nutrients that the other packets so drinking 2 of them a day may well throw your body into starvation stalling your weight loss.
Trust the program and don't worry -- that's my mantra
You can't get knocked out of ketosis for an hour or two and then the hour is up and then you're back in ketosis ...

Come over and I'll show you my stix Ketosis is a metobolic process of which there is an ebb and flow -- it's just where your bosy is pulling energy from, food or fat. If you read about it, they say there are many people who go into ketosis overnight and then out of it at breakfast....and I think I read that in my initial IP docs the coach gave me...
No matter what your stix say, Ketosis is not a process that you can slip in and out of hourly.

It's important to remember we all have differing amounts of carbs we can eat and still lose weight. I was told IP Phase 1 carb levels can go from 25-40 carbs/day. However, some folks stall at the upper end of that range and thus do "boot camp" for a while, which means no restricteds.
So while you can trust the program and not have to count, know that your coach understands this carb range and while she may not discuss that with you, when you start stalling, she might bring up "boot camp" and this is why.
I used to stress out, often wondering if I was in or out of ketosis during several times in a day and getting the ketostix really helps. I usually just have a "trace" reading but if I am slacking on water it shows up darker. It shouldn't even matter because once you're in ketosis, you're in it, regardless of where you figure in the reading.
I've also recently switched to alternatives and have taken to using MyFitnessPal to count my calories/carbs/protein/fat intake but it doesn't help me as much. I just make sure I eat products that are good dupes of the IP stuff, ingredients and stat wise.
I'm a numbers person so out of curiosity I put all my food and drinks into the My Fitness Pal food tracker which I've been using forever (or so it feels). I'm into my third week on IP and the max net carbs I've had was 40 and the least was 23. Calories average about 850 and fat about 42 max and 23 at the lowest. I love seeing what I've consumed on a daily basis.
