I only eat red meat/steak once maaayyybbe twice a week at the most. Unlike other proteins it stays in your stomach and intestines MUCH longer because its very hard for the body to breakdown.

I would only eat it once a week and maybe break it up. Have 5 oz of steak and like 3 oz of shrimp or something just so its not sooo much for your tummy!

Good luck I hope you feel better

I was going to suggest limiting your steak if it makes your stomach upset or divide it up and not eat the full 8 oz in the evening. Try something lighter maybe like fish or eat more chicken... HTH...

You're probably just sensitive to steak or one of the additives. I have quite a few food sensitivities (hummus, eggs, milk) and the only way around it is not eating them.

You're lucky that you've figured out what is giving you the pains! It took me ages to isolate the cause.

Also, it could be your gallbladder going crazy for all the fat in those steaks. Both routes are worth investigating and talking to your doc about.

It took me a while to finally give up red meat, because I love it, but my body HATES it. I would get those terrible pains you describe. This happens when I eat too much dairy/cheese too.

Strangely enough, I can still eat Bison steak ... apparently a lot of people with red meat sensitivities still can. So whenever I'm REALLY craving it, I go to a restaurant that serves bison or I go to Whole Foods and make some myself. It is kind of funny, because I'm Native American ... so I guess it makes sense I can still eat bison? Haha.

Well that explains it, yesterday I had the worst stomach pains because the day before I had a flank steak. I guess next time I will split it up and do a smaller portion of steak and a little bit of other protein.
