Default Ok girls help me out!! I need a travel/homecoming outfit!

So my hub is deployed AGAIN. We've only seen him for a couple days since March 2011. It'll be September before we see him again.

This time the situation is reversed and he's picking us up at the airport, in our new home, Hawaii!!!

I need help finding something to wear! Obviously, I have time... but I need to start thinking about it . I need something that's comfortable enough to wrestle 2 little kids through the airport with, endure a 6+ hour flight, but still blow him away!!

Let me see what you've got!

I like this from Black Halo. It has a slit which gives freedom for walking around.

and this from bcbg

Its a jersey material and looks comfy but has a V neck and cinched waist.

I really like the 2nd one, thanks!

I'm concerned about the TSA and a dress. I refuse to walk through a backscatter machine. I've had enough radiation to last me a lifetime. Will wearing a skirt/dress make me more of a target for groping?

I think it's the long, loose skirts that draw TSA's attention. There's not much you could hide under either of those skirts, lol.

Hawaii?? Ahh you're so lucky. Hawaii is a dream of mine

(also in navy)

I was looking for an outfit with high waisted navy capris, nice (maybe floral) top, espadrilles and a hair flower but I'm too tired and can't find what I'm thinking of. Why can't google plug into my brain? haha, I'd be into something like that and I think it'd be comfy... are you thinking about a dress? Hawaii makes me think of flowers.. hmmm...

...two kids and an airport...no way I would wear a dress.

What I would wear would be more of a Hawaii inspired casual vintage pin up like Leila is going for, just not a dress.

-Flower in your hair
-Vintage red lips (try a Matt red)
- Tight cropped sweater over a nice blouse (pin up girl clothing has some great ones.)
- dark wash capri or walking short.

Traveling with kiddos and a long flight ..... hmm .....
How about a skort? I found this skort at Althea. The shirt is from Banana Republic and the shoes from Zappos

i dont know if this is your style, but i always liked the dress/shorts look. a nice loose short dress, with denim shorts. comfortable, and suitable for Hawaii. i really like this dress, with shorts and some sandals. it looks so cute with wavy hair and with a more casual look you dont need to put makeup on for that long flight, or worry about ruining an expensive outfit.

I would not wear a dress, what with children, carryons, stuff for the children, getting through the airport and lines of people,go for comfort. I would wear Capris with an attractive top and a light sweator as planes are often cool, but you will want to take it off before you greet DH. No flip flops but shoes that are easy to take off in the airport, (TSA). No laces to tie. In other words comfort comes first but make it as attractive as possible. Splurge on a beautiful short, sheer nightie (you might want to take it off, too).
Have a wonderful trip.

Oh, I'm sure he'll be thrilled and so happy to see you, it won't even matter what you're wearing.

I wouldn't go for a dress though, it's true that is a feminine piece of clothing, but you can look just as stunning with a white, sheer blouse and a pair of shorts, perhaps some nude wedges? I second the idea of wearing a flower in your hair and bright lips. Benefit's Chacha tint screams Hawaii in my opinion.

Great ideas, everyone, thanks!!! What about a shorter flowy dress and leggings? There is no way I'm changing in an airplane bathroom with 2 kids haha... I can't even imagine having to use it!
