Ok, so the wedding is Friday, today is Monday... Too little too late buuuut...
I bought a size 14 five months ago. I can't believe I "grew out of it" in that short amount of time. I knew I was in trouble last month, which is when I started working out again and eventually joined this forum.
Unfortunately, my dress is from a brand new Vera Wang collection only available at Davids Bridal. Of course they don't have my size in the color I need, that one is special order only. They have a size 20 but it's in the next state over.
So here are my 3 options:
1. I could get it over-nighted, and deal with a baggy dress
2. I can have the seamstresses take a look at my dress, add fabric and probably change the look of the dress, plus it will cost me an arm and a leg
3. Anyone know of any super shapewear?
It's so bad that my boyfriend can't even zip it. Anyone been here before?
Gosh, that sucks! At the only wedding I was a bridesmaid in, the bride gave me a color and told me to find a dress at David's Bridal that works. It ended up OK, not great but OK.
But if I were you, I would overnight the closest size. It would be better to be a bit baggy, but comfortable and not freaking out on my friend's big day than to be squeezed into a tiny dress or spending tons of money. I hope everything turns out OK!
Why not bring the dress with you at the store and try on what they have?
I know Adele admitted to wearing 4 layers of Spanx at a red carpet event.. so maybe more than 1 would help? Not saying it would be comfortable but you might be able to fit into the dress.
Thanks everyone.. The worst part is my chest. Most shapewear I've seen doesn't suck in your boobs unless it's a fitted cami. Anyone know of a brand/store that sucks you in from chest to butt? The good news is the dress is not strapless.
Overnight the dress, see if it can be altered. Wear it to the wedding and afterwards take it to a consignment shop and at least get part of your money back.
You might be able to try one of those body wraps that takes off a couple inches here and there for a short amount of time... I'm not really sure how good they actually are for you or how much they cost but I'm sure you can find a place in your area that can give you more info... I just thought I would throw the idea out there
My vote is with Violet23, cut your carbs and/or do a fast this week and then wear suck it in shape wear. I´m sure your not that far off. Just suck it in girl!! Good luck!
Is it one of those weddings where bridesmaids buy their own style of dresses? Because I would much rather have a dress that fits nicely than feel all sucked in and uncomfortable. If you have to wear it then try all the tricks people have listed and try your best to realise that everyone will be staring at the bride anyway!
If it were me I would be eating meat, eggs, and leafy greens with no dressing until the big day. Buy some heavy duty shapewear and hope for the best.
Then again, I've never been in a wedding, so maybe being comfortable would be more important, so maybe having the closest size shipped and altered would be better? I don't know, big hugs and lots of love to you even though I don't have any good advise.

Good news... I am getting the dress overnighted, they're going to exchange the dress that's too small, AND alter the size 20 all before the wedding and all at NO ADDITIONAL cost to me!!!!
I couldn't believe it. I was never a big fan of DB before, but the politeness and the bending over backwards they have done for me is outstanding. I am satisfied.
And yes, I wish she would have picked individual dresses as well. That was her original plan, but then she saw the most expensive bridesmaid dress in the whole store and suddenly wanted that, go figure. It's just hard, the four of us bridesmaids are all totally different. I'm top heavy, one is bottom heavy, one is super tiny, the other is average. It would have made more sense to the do the same color, different dress styles, but oh well.
Anyone have any horror stories regarding bridesmaid dresses?
I have never been a brides maid, thankfully. My sister in law is getting married (well she is pregnant now, so it is on hold)... if she wants me in the wedding, hopefully I will be at my goal weight by then!
