I've been very hesitant to go out to restaurants with friends, especially since I've started calorie counting again. The items on the menu (calories and fat) simply blow my mind.
Anyway, I went out with one of my friends to Chili's for a "power lunch." Granted, I'm not a huge Chili's fan, so it wasn't a huge loss for me to check out the salads. THEN I took a look at the Chicken Cesar Salad's nutrition information on their website. My eyes almost bulged out of my skull! Decided to nix that instead for a grilled chicken salad, light cheese, low fat ranch, and no croutons. Since that was a significant difference in calories, I also went and had some of the enchilada soup (not bad for Chili's food!)
In addition, later on this evening, I passed up buying buttered movie popcorn for my viewing of The Three Musketeers (which is in the dvd player as we speak.) I'm very proud of myself!
Anyway, I said all of this to say that smart phones REALLY help put things in perspective when you go to restaurants
Once I get a full-time job, I'll definitely be investing in one!
