Default Knee replacement

Hey there...new girl here. Has anyone had knee replacement surgery? If so, how bad was it??? I am probably going to need it in the next 6 months, but I have got to lose some weight before I do it. Thanks!

Welcome! I haven't had knee replacement surgery but have seen clients who have. Some bounce back faster then others, each individual is different. Good luck on your weight loss, and I'm sure the surgery won't be as bad as you think

You may find some people who have had a knee replacement if you make a thread in the "Dieting with Obstacles" forum -- I'm sure there are people here who have had that. My brother had one done last year or so. Best wishes on your weight loss in prep for that; it should make you feel better just by doing that.

I had both knees replaced five years ago. Best decision I ever made. Feel free to private message me any time.

Kissmepumps, I too am inline for TKR. Both no less thank you to OA and the family genes. However, I am finding as I lose weight I walk less like a penguin and the knees don't hurt *as much*. Hopefully as I lose more, I will swim more, which helps lose more and is easier on my knees.

You can do this and heal super fast!!!!!

I haven't had TKR, but have had surgery to repair torn ligaments (cruciate, lateral and medial) along with cartilidge removal. Brilliant, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat if needed.
My advice is to not feel sorry for yourself and do all your physio exercises!
Good luck!

I need to have my knees replaced at some point. My doctor wants to wait. I'm tired of shots and tylenol arthritis and celebrex. My feet add an extra prolem with plantar fasciitis.

I'm inpain every day but I keep on exercising. I'm not losing weight and it's totally my fault because I'm always snacking. Smh i give up.

Kissmepumps: I had my left hip replaced 7 years ago, due to an accident! Then my right knee 6 years ago. The most amazing thing is there was no pain anymore... yes the surgery hurt some and physio is intense, but just do it. You will feel so much better and be more active.

I am just starting the process to get my other knee done, thanks to genes of osteo arthritis and weight problems.
