Default I've been waiting for an epiphany

Hi all. I'm brand new to this - I've not ever posted on a forum like this.

I've been waiting for some kind of epiphany, or big event, or some kind of 'in your face' sign that it was time to lose weight.

I have realised though, that this weight went on over a few years and not in one single moment. Therefore, there isn't going to be a single moment that seems more right for losing it. I have also realised that I don't actually want some kind of sign, because at this size, that 'sign' would very likely be some kind of health scare! I'm best getting on to the weight loss BEFORE the 'sign'!

I'm about to get ready and go to buy some exercise DVDs so I can get started In the privacy of my own home.

I've been really inspired by everyone's posts and especially the photos.

Thanks for the help in getting started. Looking forward to getting to know you all.

hey Buzzy bee.
im glad youre ready 2 start your weight loss journey
and as far as an epiphany goes,i used 2 wait 4 those but they NEVER came.lol
or if they did,it was only twice a year.
i do/did have knee problems, slight high blood pressure, back aches etc....youd think those would be my epiphany moments but sometimes they arent
but when im depressed i those things dont matter at the moment cuz food was always there 2 comfort me

i guess at my age i dont wait 4 those "A-HA" moments anymore.
i know im OBESE and i know what i have 2 do,and i try my hardest 2 do it.
even though its gonna be a HARD road ahead.

but it is good 2 have inspiration.
and good luck 2 you

yep, buzzy bee - you're right: you do NOT want an epiphany of the type you were thinking. i had one - it was not nice to be told i'm nearly at the end of my life and i'm only in my 40s!

but you know what? not all epiphanies are great blinding flashes with angelic choirs. sometimes it's a tug at the back of your mind saying "oi - time."

instead of rushing to spend money on exercise DVDs, may i direct you to youtube? create a playlist and bob's yer uncle. spend the money on all the healthy food you'll need to replace the junk you'll be throwing out of your kitchen.
