Default Liver Enyzmes & High Potassium Level

Any concerns for blood work that indicates high liver enyzmes & high Potassium level on Ideal Protein Diet.
My friend is following this diet as well as myslef. She just had blood work and her numbers are so high now. Her doctor told her to stop everything. No more supplements. She started diet in Oct. 2011 and has lost 60 lbs. She is very upset.
Any info would be greatly appreciated.

I still have slightly elevated liver enzymes, indicating fatty liver (and years of being on several meds), but my doctor said they would even out as time went on, and amazingly, the liver has a great ability to repair itself. I have had low potassium in the past and had to take a prescription potassium. I learned then that the heart has a range of what is safe, in terms of potassium, so it is nothing to mess about with. Maybe her doctor wants to see what happens when she stops the diet, to see if that was the contributing factor.

At any rate, I would do as the doctor says. There is always another time to try IP or some other program. Health and safety comes first!

Good luck!

It can be a lot of different things. I would listen to your MD. A high potassium is dangerous for your health it can cause a cardiac event. Maybe you can try the diet without the supplements. I am a Bone Marrow Transplant Nurse but in the past worked in the cardiac unit. Take care of yourself. Nancy from Cape Cod

i too just had bloodwork at 8 weeks on IP diet n my liver enzymes where elevated. knew startin diet that it would be taxing organs. doc is going to monitor in 6 weeks. on own limited the products with suracolsa to 1-2 a week vs everyday n accupinturist gave me a tea to protect my liver. God created our liver to self heal so give it some rest n try diet again. my plans if next results have increased great on 60lbs. ive lost 49 in 10 weeks n still have another 50 to
go.
