Earkier in the week, I posted my non-scale victory of running one mile, albeit I split it up by doing five minutes, then another 5 minutes, then another three and two minutes.
Well today, I ran the whole mile WITHOUT stopping
I started my usual routine of walking on the treadmill. I usually set it on a steep incline and go slow, but lately I have also been speeding things up with no incline so I can get ready to run. I can go for an hour-plus on the elliptical, so I'm in pretty good cardiac shape, but I have always struggled with the physical impact of running.
Anyway, I started running (or jogging, whatever you do at 4.8 miles per hour). My goal s simply to try to do more than five minutes at once. I was feeling good, so I got to five minutes, then six, then seven...and I just decided to run the whole mile. My pace was 12:30 minutes to complete the mile. I did 14 minutes!
And towards the end of my workout, I ran another three minutes! My body was telling me that was enough so I went back to incline walking, but I was proud of myself.
Next goal: two miles running. That will take a while to achieve, but I can do it eventually
