So I've cut my calories, started eating healthier, and incorporating exercise for a week and a half, which is more than a 3500 calorie deficit from the way I used to eat, and I haven't lost an ounce. I know it hasn't been long but am I just being impatient?? How long does it take to see a change in numbers?
I'm finding myself getting discouraged and it's really bothering me, I wouldn't mind if I lost .5lbs a week, but everyday and every night my weight is at 191. Oh and I'm ALWAYS bloated!! Nothing seems to help that either.
if you're bloated, first thing is to verify with your doctor that there's no medical problem (ie, circulatory problems can cause swelling fo the hands and feet).
if you're clear that way, then you need to drink, drink, drink. drink half your bodyweight in ounces of water and within about 3 days (for me), you'll be pissing like a racehorse.
and yes, that's when you'll start seeing results.
btw: fun fact - many ppl eat too much because they are misinterpreting thirst cues.

I just checked with the doctor, and everything is clear. She said it could be gas because I'm eating less. It's just SO uncomfortable! My stomach looks bigger now than it did before I started dieting.
Oh you know, now that I think of it I'm not drinking that much water, I will definitely try to do that more often. and did you mean once I started drinking more water I'll see results??
Definitely try drinking more water. I went 3-4 days without the scale budging, started forcing myself to drink lots of water, and lost 2lbs pretty much overnight. It was amazing.
Also, was your weight stable before? I know that if I'm honest with myself, I was overeating, not just eating to maintain, before reigning it in for a few days and then cutting calories to lose weight. If I just cut 500 calories per day from what I was eating before, I'd probably have maintained rather than lost or lost so slowly it wouldn't be noticeable.
My weight was stable in that it would slowly increase every few months, and I was definitely overeating before, but lately I've been in the 1200-1400 calorie range and I think normally I was eating 2000-3000 calories. So do you mean that cutting 500 calories would just help you maintain rather than lose?
1200-1400 should definitely result in loss. Just in your op, you said that you had more than a 3500 deficit from what you used to eat. I just wasn't sure whether you were saying that you'd cut out 500-600 calories per day or what.
If I, personally, had cut out only 500 calories per day from what I was eating before I started reigning it in a few weeks ago (pre counting calories and actively trying to lose weight), I don't think I'd have lost much if any weight. Certainly not 1lb per week. But, I was feeling miserable and eating too much in some sort of bizarre attempt to make myself feel better. Like making my clothing too tight makes me feel better.
You seriously DON'T need to chug a bunch of water, that is a huge and wildly popular diet myth. Lay off the salt, lay off the processed carbs and processed "diet foods" (including diet soda) and the bloat will go away...
Though no matter how "good" I am, I still get PMS bloating, could that be an issue right now?
I don't think it's the TOM for me yet, but the bloating has gone down, I've also started drinking more water, but no weight changes yet. Today makes it two weeks and I'm still at 191, actually 191.5 Can't help but feel like I'm doing something wrong!

So I should cut more than 500 calories from my diet?? 1200-1400 calories is wayy less than what I used to eat, but I guess everyone is different?? I just want out of the 190s so badly!!
I wouldn't go any lower than 1200 calories per day. You'll send yourself into starvation mode to where your body thinks you aren't going to feed it so it starts storing. I would know, I did it for a little bit, thought it was okay and didn't matter and guess what, I was wrong! Didn't lose anything, not an ounce. So if you do anything just don't go below 1200 per day. I agree with watching salt intake. Watch sodium. Its a hidden little beast that can work against you if you're getting too much! Also watch your fat intake. Look at the whole lable and not just calories. I'm a calorie counter but you can't just count calories to lose weight.
