Default Hello From A SBD Newbie

Just wanted to say hi and introduce myself to everyone. My name is Lynn and I started SBD Phase 1 yesterday. So far, so good! I'm finding it a lot easier to stick to than I thought.

I have struggled with my weight for years and carbs are my weakness. I am type 2 diabetic and have PCOS. After doing lots of reading, a lower (complex) carb diet appears to be quite beneficial for both so I'm making a serious effort with this plan.

I really appreciate all the tips and recipes that these forums have to offer. Really a wealth of information for someone just starting out!

Hi Lynn and to The Beach. I too am a Type II diabetic and this lifestyle is making a huge difference for me. Feel free to ask lots of questions and be sure to join us in the Daily chat. There is lots of information in our stickies and the Book is our Bible of course. (I'm assuming you've read it.)

By the way, Halifax is one of my favourite cities.

Welcome and this is a great place! SBD is excellent for many health issues. And the support here is totally amazing. We have a daily chat thread and a food log thread, post on them every day for support and feedback, and just friendship.

Welcome! I'm new, too (sort of). Just finished Phase 1 and am so pleased with the result. Stick to it. I found the first week the most difficult - had to constantly readjust portions and foods so that I wasn't hungry. Second week was definitely easier. The recipes on this forum are a great help for keeping eating interesting (part of the reason I like this diet and this forum!).

Thanks for such a warm welcome!

Ruthxxx - I've read the book - bought it on my Kobo but will being picking up a hard copy this week. Thankfully there is a lot of info/recipes online because going back through the e-book is a bit of a pain.

That's great to hear about how well you're able to manage your sugars with this plan. I've been testing after meals and I'm in the normal range!

Smarkey - I'm not finding it so bad, I haven't really been hungry or craving carbs but my hubby isn't having as much luck. I've been trying to adjust his meals/portions because he seems to be hungry and irritable.
