My step mom was diagnoised as a diabetic yesterday. I was a loss at what to get her for her birthday until now. She loves cookbooks, and I know she will need new ones to help her on this new lifestyle. What ones do you recomend? Thanks!!!

My mother was diagnosed about 6 months ago too. Not really sure about the cookbooks...so sorry. There are tons of recipes available on the internet in the meantime. I even think there is a magazine called diabetic living (cooking tips, etc.) in which she can subscribe to.

My mom's been diabetic for 20+ years and she has quite a few cookbooks.
I asked her which was the best and her choice is: 'Better Homes and Gardens New Diabetic Cookbook'. That may give you something to start looking at. (hehehe, my favorite of her cookbooks is 'Diabetes Cookbook for Dummies For Dummies')
