Default SBD Wednesday Hump Day Chat, 9/7

Happy Hump Day!

It looks like we're all getting off to a lazy start on this raining morn. There's lots of flooding around here, and schools are running on a 2-hour delay so far. I'm going to attempt to drive out to the farm although I know I'll have to take the long way, and I may need a strong pair of oars!

Good morning!

Had a great night last night at my parents, celebrating gf's birthday. She got an awesome new game that we cannot wait to try tomorrow. Food was good, OP. Tonight will be leftovers of said food.

I have finally resorted to taking an HerbLax. I cannot believe how much I have not been regular since starting this diet!

Cottage - good luck venturing out in your bad weather!

Good morning, Southmplsgirl! It looks like we're the only ones up so far! I'm glad you had a good time and were able to celebrate your friend's birthday without going off-plan. Metamucil was a regular part of my daily regime when I did Phase 1, but drinking gallons of water and making sure I had beans every day really helped moved things along, too. Good luck!

"Row, row, row your boat" Poor Cottage! You folks have certainly bee whacked by the weather this past year. I hope you can stay safe and dry.

Sounds like a good evening, Southmplsgirl. Herbalex will probably help. Are you getting enough fiber and drinking enough water? I'm a great believer in Fibre1 cereal - tastes cruddy but does the trick.

It was nice to get back to normal routine yesterday. Jazz stayed in the yard with no problems and we had a relaxed morning. Pet therapy went well although I was saddened to see some of our friends had "gone ahead". Jazz was a hit with the new residents.

Got a reminder yesterday that I'd promised a dessert for tonight's garden club meeting so had to scramble around last night and make the infamous Bacardi Rum Cake. It really needs 24 hours to mellow so should be perfect by tonight. It is definitely food porn and I'll be glad to get it out of the house.

So ... morning doing house stuff, pet therapy at the clinic at noon, banking, early supper and then to the Garden Club where the speaker will talk about "trough gardening" whatever that is. A fullish day but I will definitely schedule some reading time on the porch if things warm up a bit. It's 53ºF right now! I want more summer.

"Stop griping, Ruthie, and get on with it!" It's Hump Day!

Good morning Another rainy day around here too. It makes everyone a little twitchy but so far most of the road repairs are holding.

Cottage - Safe travels, be careful around that water. I have a whole new respect for the power of flooding water.

southmplsgirl - I really love chia seeds, both whole and ground. If you can find them around you try a T in smoothies, cereal, etc. It might help get things moving.
Great job staying on plan at a birthday celebration!

So today is Julie's birthday. I'm trying to figure out what to make for dinner. She can't think of anything special she wants but I have a few ideas. I'm going to make a bean cake too. She's been extra careful about the carbs since she got sick because she can't work out much, but maybe the chocolate PB cake. I suppose I could even use stevia since it's for her (I hate stevia). There's an idea We are heading to Boston Friday for a second opinion on her surgery and plan to make it a long weekend at the coast. Today I have to make reservations.

Yesterday I learned that if I've got a long list of chores I should plan exercise early in the day. By the end of the day I was just too wiped out to move. On the other hand I got a lot done! Planning another productive day.

Happy Hump Day!

ETA - Good morning Ruth!

Good morning chicks!

Cottage - this rain is crazy, isn't it? I'm hoping we won't have a river in a our basement like we did in the spring...

Southmpsgirl - what is your real life name? LOL...I keep trying to type your screen name out . Yes - phase I can do that to you!

Cyndi - happy birthday to Julie!! I made a PB whip for myself, then my DD ate half of it, little stinker! I also have to plan exercise. I have it planned after work/before kids home today, let's hope I'm not exhausted from work again.

Ruth - the one good thing about that dessert is that you can't sneak a piece like you can cookies, etc.!!

I forgot how nice mornings can be with school back in session. I wake the kiddos up at 6:30 if they're not up yet, on the bus at 7:30, then I get til 8:40 TO MYSELF!! This am I celebrate school starting by playing on the internet . Actually, I just put dinner in the crock pot (hoppin' john!!) and packed up my lunch. I love the convenience of a pot of soup for the whole week!

Hope everyone stays dry!

I *think* I'm getting enough fiber...I'm eating so many fibrous veggies - lots of zucchini lately, tomatoes, broccoli, plenty of beans (lentil/black bean salad last night ALONG WITH taco bake!). Drinking plenty of water too. I'm going to up my water just a little and check out the chia seeds.

Ruth - I love hearing stories about your dog work. I cannot have Fiber One on P1 though, right?

Cyndi - checked out your before and after pics, you look amazing! Have fun thinking of a menu for your SO.

Twynn- my real life name is Angie

Back to work...

Good Morning

I've been working on the sock monkey this morning...he's all repaired, his new outfit is finished and he just got a bath. I'm on the run this am...DH is going fossil hunting, pool is closed so if I want "easy" exercise I have to head out with him in 15 min to hit the early low impact aerobics class.

to everyone!

Happy Birthday to Julie!

Good morning.

Linda - Take care!

Angie - What's the game?

Ruth - I love Fiber 1 cereal! So much that I just can't have it around anymore. It's actually cooler here than up your way right now.

Cyndi - Happy bday to Julie!

Twynn - I always loved time to myself when my boys were in school. Of course that was foiled when my husband started staying home all day. Sigh.

Debbie - DH does aerobics class?!

I'm almost at the bottom of my frozen meals so need to plan some more to stock up. I like having a handful in there to grab, especially PH1 friendly. Last night I had a very ice-crystal-filled taco bake and it was still yummy. I guess I need to work on my storage technique. DH surprised me by not wanting to bike yesterday, so maybe today will be the day. We are almost out of recorded TV shows to watch during cardio!

Angie! Glad to know another name I can use. Yes Fiber 1 is Phase II. You have been such a regular in the daily, I forgot you were on Phase I.

Cyndi, missed your post. I hope the Friday appointment gives you and Julie some more answers. Happy birthday to Julie! A weekend on the coast sounds just the ticket to celebrate her birthday.

Twynn, enjoy that "me" time even if it is less than an hour.

Debbie, busy as usual! I am glad to see you checking in later. Does that mean you are sleeping better?

Waisting Time, isn't it great to have ready to reheat meals in the freezer. My problem is forgetting they are there. This time I am making a list and am keeping them only in the freezer baskets. Things disappear easily way down in the corners. I'm also learning to freeze in the reheat container, pop them out and then vacuum seal them.

Jazz just gave his "Damn cat!" bark and went tearing off the deck. I fully expected him to go out of the yard after it but he didn't. I am very puzzled. He got out Saturday and I couldn't find his escape hatch and he hasn't left the yard since. Today I am hoping to get some beams from the reno of the Mill Museum and will lay them along the base of the fence so he can't dig under it. Wish me luck.

What a great idea! We have one of those buried in our basement that we got years ago when it was one of Oprah's favorite things

I love my vac sealer. I seal all my dried fruits and veggies in empty jars - salsa jars for veggies and PB jars for apples. Big jars were great when I baked bread and bought big bags of floor. kept the little buggies out.
I'm going to try this trick for leftovers. I rarely use my bags so have a lot available.
