Default SBD Daily Chat for Tuesday, August 2

Hey everyone,
Where are those Delta folks?? Hey, we know you're busy, but at least need a chime in.

Not much new here on this front. Work today, then I've got to start preparing for this weekend. I'm going away to a hotel/spa with two girlfriends . Hot stone massage, here I come! But I've got to do most of the things I do on the weekend during the week now. Grocery shopping, some cooking, etc.

Hope everyone has a great day!

DH and his snoring It is already 80 degrees outside and still pitch black here! Last I heard they were predicting a temp of near 106, which would be a record. The dentist will "see" me this afternoon but I don't have an actual appointment to start fixing the crown. Meanwhile, I am now researching new dentists!

Matilda - I'm envious of your weekend plans!

Keep cool, everyone. BBL

Chiming in! My guests are still in Dreamland but the doggage and I were up by 5:30. Jazz went outside and immediately crossed the deck to look in the sliding door to the studio which is currently a guest room. He's in love with Carley!

Yesterday we went on a 1000 Islands boat cruise and then had a delightful lunch outside overlooking the river at a restaurant I didn't know about. Burgers for supper and then front porch time. So far we've not run out of things to talk about. Today I have five or six of the usual summer visitors coming for coffee and then Elaine and Margo Pyper (and two dogs) will be here for lunch. We're going down to the Diner for pizza.

The only bad thing is that Donna's husband, Ted, died yesterday morning. We have been expecting this but not so soon. Luckily her family are nearby and her mother is staying with her until arrangements get firmed up. This is going to be really hard for her because they really had a love affair.

Time to put on the official pot of coffee and throw together some of my Food Porn butterscotch squares for the coffee group. I've not weighed myself but I know my ticker is lying so I won't post it.

HAve a lovely Tuesday. We sure will!

WaistingTime, that temperature is insane! We crab if we get above 85ºF and I just can't image 106! I hope the crown issue gets resolved soon. I'm sure the hole feels like the Grand Canyon.

Good morning

Matilda - Your weekend sounds wonderful and just what you need.

Karen - Wow, your heat sounds pretty awful. We complain here when it's over 85. Is yours dry or humid (though I've never really thought there was that much difference).

Ruth - Wow, I haven't done the 1000 Islands thing since I was a kid. Bet it was a perfect day to be out there. to everyone up in Delta. Glad you all are having a great time.

Today is my one later day. We have a survey out in the field and it's quite a challenge to get it back. This week I'm following up and trying to get them back in my hand then next week I'll deliver more. At staff meeting we actually talked about the official transition plan so it's really starting to happen.

DW had another mostly good day though she was exhausted last night. Not surprising that she would want to do too much as soon as she felt a little better The hospital tried to schedule a cardio appt. before the surgeon consult so it really sounds like they are wanting to move straight to surgery. We haven't talked to the surgeon yet (they had to reschedule last week's appt) so don't actually know suggested timeline or urgency. All that will be shared Thursday. It's hard to plan when we have that ahead. We do want to go to Plum Island if we can. It's been a very long time for us.

Well time to get some maps together and make some calls for the day.

Just wanted to pop in for a quick hello before the day gets too busy.
Had a tough day eating wise. I'm finding myself too tired to cook when I get home from work and last night I just ordered pizza for everyone. I have to get my act together and organize my time more wisely.
Have a good day!

It is a beautiful morning so far here in Philly - but I know the humidity will be about 75% and temps around 92, so I expect to close the house up shortly. For now, though, there is a beautiful breeze and the sky is lovely.

The last few days got pretty off-track - my father was here from the Middle East for a two and 1/2 days visit - and we managed to squeeze Mexican, Chinese, and Italian into those two days. Bounced back up to 157 this am, but it is also that TOM. The individual choices could certainly have been worse, but still - NOT OP!

DD1 will be starting her braces in a month. 6th grade is already tough enough without mouth full of metal - poor kid. DD2 is likely to be fitted for her palate expander at about the same time. Ah well - they can be miserable together!

Still in the process of re-doing the kitchen. Walls are painted, cabinets are almost done - now to pick new countertops. I have had these formica ones since we moved in 13 years ago - I AM GOING GRANITE! I am so excited to pick them out - just hope they are not too horribly expensive.

Everyone take care - and of course
Be well!

Good morning,

Karen- it is supposed to be the same here, I am sick of 100 degree Humid weather already...if it would at least drop in the low 90's I would be happy. Hope you get the tooth fixed soon.

Ruth- sounds like you are having a grand time with your visitors.

to everyone else. I went and registered DD2 for school last evening, they start back up August 12th.

Okay gotta run, I got an 8 a.m. call to get ready for.

Have a great day everyone.

Good Morning

I'm in the center of the whirling vortex of family and guests. Kirks friend came back with us yesterday to help finish some projects. My sis wants to vacation and do fun things and we have lots of work that needs to be finished. Oh, well. Food was good, amidst the craziness. Fortunately, my sis likes to eat healthy, too.

Ruth, so sorry to hear about Ted. I'm glad Donna has family near. to your guests!

Matilda, what a fun weekend to look forward to.

Cyndi, take care today as you work when you really have other more important things on your mind.

Karen, maybe the dentist has a temporary fix.

chris, it's really hard as you're getting started. Dont' get discouraged...you'll get better at planning ahead. Getting a few things stashed in the freezer is helpful for those nights when you're just too tired to cook.

ETA- Pearlrose and bea! Gotta run, too!

Good morning, Chickies! This is Cottage, sneaking in under Ruthie's name.

We're having a lovely visit here in Delta Land, and the weather is just glorious! Especially after hearing how hot and humid it is back home in Philly.

Yesterday we took a wonderful cruise around the 1000 Islands and enjoyed a lovely lunch on a terrace overlooking the St. Lawrence. We took a roundabout way back to Ruth's so she could show Monica some of the countryside. Today, after lunch at the famous Bob's Diner (which isn't really a diner at all, BTW), we're going to take a drive down to Kingston to see the sights. Tomorrow we're driving up to Ottawa in time to catch the changing of the guards at the Parliament, then meeting up with Ellis and Mauvais, who are former Mods, and Ilene for Dim Sum. Poor Ruthie is going to need a vacation after this, as she's probably exhausted!

Good morning all! I have been good about posting my menus but not keeping up on the daily chat. The scale wasn't very nice to me today, it is showing that I am 1 pound up - but with TOM, lower water consumption this weekend and a few off plan bites at this past weekend's BBQ, I guess I am not too surprised. Hopefully a few days and the scale will be smiling again.
Made an important observation this weekend. I shared a few bites of an off plan food with DH this weekend at a birthday party BBQ - and it really didn't taste that great! Amazing how in tune we get with how our bodies feel with on plan vs off plan foods. I happily moved onto my SB friendly cheesecake bites, and everyone was raving about. HA! Low fat and sugar free too! :-)

It is so hot out, looking forward to a change in temps, hopefully headed our way Thursday!

Agenda today is working and a visit to the gym. Probably some school supply errands tonight with the kids, they need to pick out new backpacks!
Enjoy your day!

Good Morning Ladies!

MMC- I work at a spa and am always envious of those getting away to the spa!!! Have a great time!

Karen- are you in pain at all? *wink wink* because if you were I bet they would move a lot faster! Good luck! I hate searching for a new dentist-I amn trying yet another one at the end of the month. I can't seem to find one I like around here!

Ruth&Cottage- Enjoy your time together, sounds like you are doing just that so far!!! And Ruth- that was a great post to be pre-coffee ;0)

Cyndi- Glad to hear DW is feeling better, I think I missed the post about what is going on... What kind of surgery is she going to have? I will keep you guys in my thoughts.

Chris- I always keep a couple cans of Progresso Lentil soup in the cupboard just for that, or if I don't have time to make lunch to take to work. I know I can eat a can of that and it is a better option than most! You can still order the pizza for everyone else Also, salad with precut up veggies in the fridge(planning ahead is hard for me too!) is a perfect quick fix! Just dust off- you're back on it!

bea- I always thought it would be soo cool to have concrete counter tops! They can do such neat stuff with them now!

Pearl Debbie

LMAO- you guys are so funny!!!(cottage and ruth)!!!

Jenski- I love being in tune with my body too! Its a great feeling!

Well, I did the day 1 of c25k yesterday and today my shins are sore! I will take it semi easy and just do some working in the garden for exercise(It will be a sweat fest I am sure... 100 degree temps and I have to haul dirt and mulch... my asparagus beds need attention!) I must head to trader joes, decide if I will eat at whole foods(a downfall sometimes I think! although I usually just eat HUGE salad topped with 90%OP things) and do a bit of laundry. I have an extra day added this week for work once again so I am cramming to get things done. I also have a hair appointment tomorrow and have 2 out of towners to do then as well then heading into work to do some training! Making the most of today is my plan!!! Oh, and stopping at Hobby Lobby for work no doubt. Oy.

Good morning everyone! Rikki, I love your ticker!

Day 2 of my vacation. Tons of laundry and snuggling with my kitties is on the agenda for today. Then later I have derby practice. I'll be taking my skills assessment test to show that I am ready to participate in contact during practice and scrimmaging. The only part I'm nervous about is 25 laps in under 5 minutes. I did it in 4:41 last week, so hopefully I can do that (or better!) today in this heat!

Laundry is calling my name!

Afternoon - being out a day a week makes getting back to work a chore. And makes me BUSY!

My masters career is officially over!! Everything is done save waiting for my grades. Send some good thoughts my way.

Got on the scale this AM and saw a 4 pound gain. I have no idea why. Maybe retaining water from being in the heat yesterday? NO clue but it was depressing. I trudge on!

Happy tuesday all
!
