Default new here! a little bit about me...

Hey everyone!
I'm Courtney, 27. I have pcos and some other health issues so I found those forums the other day. I just found this one today so I hope to find some support and accountability!
I have been heavier than where I am now. Rarely, I have weighed less. Want to get below 200 then go from there.
Due to my health issues I am focusing on my food right now. Between 1200-1500 cals and low catb (have issues with insulin so that is a must).
Good luck!

Hello!
Welcome! I am pretty new here too, and it has been awesome! I have seen "pcos" on some other posts before, but I am not sure what that means? I am so excited for you to join us and to share your journey with us, and hope that we can help you to realize your goals! Good luck with the carbs, I know that is really tough! I hope that you have some good progress...keep working hard!

Welcome and good luck! I have just joined myself but have already found loads of helpful info! I am also calorie counting - trying to keep below 1200 - some days it's a breeze while others it's a real struggle.

But I will get there and I am sure you will too.

Look forward to hearing from you

Hi everyone, I'm Jessica and I just started. I am 21. I have struggled with my weight my whole entire life. I was told that I have a fatty liver, along with thyroid problems. Having these two problems especially the thyroid, is extra hard to lose weight. I'm starting on Sunday with the nutrisystem. I have been on it before and have lost alot of weight, praying that I will do the same this time round, but actually stick with it. Along with nutrisystem I am going to start working out at curves three days a week. I did it last time along with nutrisystem and it seemed to help alot. With school I found that I was always stopping for fast food, which is where alot of my weight came from. I'm starting fresh and hoping for a new and improved me. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know I would greatly appreciate it.

Hi Nest,

I too have PCOS and had a lot of luck with watching carbs and calories. Good luck to you!

Junebug- do you know what your approximate carb intake daily was? I know it's different for everyone so I guess I'm just curious. When I previously lost about 50lbs my diet was super strict (1200-1500 cals, 10g fat or less, 25g carbs or less) and I was on my college volleyball team and worked out like crazy! I also wasn't on any medication for my medical problems. I'm hoping to not need to go that strict in order to see resultant now that my hormones are regulated by meds.

You know, it's been a while, but most days I believe it was around 120? Not incredibly low, but I avoided certain things because I HATE counting! I avoid (or avoided- I find that being pregnant I can eat like a non-pcos-er) bread, pasta, rice, etc... When I went off birth control my hormones went NUTS and I started gaining again. I had surgery in December and went back to avoiding starchy foods, but this time I cut most of the fruit/sugar out of my diet as well (also past tense because that's a craving of mine right now). I learned that my body wasn't doing a great job of deciphering fruit from a Twix bar so I had to watch both. Stupid pcos! It was drastic, but it worked and I felt amazing and the cravings vanished.

After I have the baby I'm going to have to go back to being careful again with stuff like that. What a thing this syndrome is- pregnancy makes my hormones function well. Pft.

I think no matter the meds, there are some dietary considerations with pcos, but how strict you have to be really depends on how your body responds to carbs, sugars, etc...
