Question Please Help....confused about caloric intake!

Hi Everyone,

This is the first time Ive ever really done calorie counting. For many years Ive done weight watchers so I am giving this a shot. So I joined Lose It and put in that I wanted to try to lose 2lbs a week (I know thats stretching it because I dont have much to lose) and it calculated that I should eat 1200 calories a day. My thing is, normally in the past, when I weight myself daily my scale would fluctuate alot (.5 loss here and there or gain) and I would always see some sort of progress. My problem is that I have been doing this for about a week now at 1200 calories a day and the scale has been stuck 160.5......not moving one bit. I know its only been a week, but this is not what I am used to, even if theres a gain at least its moved! Im just wondering if 1200 is too low? Some websites are saying 1200 is too low, and others are saying that it is fine. I try to exercise 6 days a week (cardio interval training for 20 mins and weights).

Should I up my calories and, if so, to what? Or should I try calorie cycling? or should I just stay at 1200 and give it some more time......

Please any advice would be appreciated....all I want to see is the 150's!

Not seeing any fluctuations at all is a little odd. Try changing the batteries in your scale.

Other than that, one week isn't long enough to tell anything. Give your 1200 calories/day more time, and if nothing is happening after several weeks, then consider upping calories/calorie cycling. Good luck!

The sad fact of life is , that the less you have to lose, the slower it will be. Do not give up, keep on what you are doing and you will see success. Do you exercise? Exercise will help with your weight loss.

I would give it two weeks. At the end of that two weeks, re-assess.

I experienced exactly the same thing during my first week of counting. I eat anything between 1000 and 1400 a day - after the first week I list at a rate of around 2lbs a week. It just seemed to take a while to get started!

Hang in there.
