Default And so it begins...

Today is the start of my pre-op diet. It is a pretty easy diet to follow actually, unlike so many others that have to do 2 weeks of liquids. I see the anesthesiologist this morning and then see the nutritionist this afternoon for supplement info.

I'm really nervous, of course. But ultimately, I think I am doing the right thing. Wish me luck!

Hello All! I have just started my liquid diet as well....actually I'm on day 4 and I have come to realize...THIS SUCKS!!! Maybe its just me but I have having major issues craving any "real" food. I'm moody and irritable and I don't know if I can continue for another week. Please if anyone has any helpful tips, share!

breathe deeply, its like quiting smoking...you just breathe your way through it. Food addiction is why I was the way I was before surgery...its tough to let go of, just hold on to the thought that you are helping myself get ready...it will be much easier afterward though still a challenge. surgery helps fix the size of your stomach but it doesn't fix the brain. You have to fight for it.

You CAN do this!

two of you doing the preop diet at the same time? maybe the rest of us should head for the hills!!!!

not really -

but seriously. it IS tough to do. and it's not going to get much easier afterwards because you might WANT to eat and not be able to. My suggestion: start keeping your hands busy. needlework, woodworking, painting, whatever it takes. and preferably, it'll involve TWO hands.

you're off to a good start!

My preop diet is not nearly has challenging as yours, Darn. It is a 1000 calorie protein shake, frozen entry, protein bar, and veggie diet, unlike your all liquid diet.

And your right, Jiffy. I need a hobby.
