Default Thin4Life - Week of January 6, 2003

Good morning everyone!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm ready to get myself back on track. After the haitus over the holiday I'm in dire need to get back to some sort of schedule and get my eating and exercise going again.

This is my first full week since Thanksgiving and I have a feeling it's going to be a looonnggg week!

So how is everyone else doing? Did you have a nice holiday?

Hi Melissa,

I am back on track too. I cannot report a good holiday as we received a phone call on NYE that a windstorm took out the big live oak (100 years old) in front of DP's house in Berkeley and in losing the tree, we also lost part of the courtyard wall, a few fountains and a bit of the roof.

So, we spent NYE afternoon flying down to California to assess the damage, going through the four stages of grief and realizing that having five houses is alot of houses to keep track of, especially if they are in four different locations.

Hopefully, we can get things squared away and insurance will give us replacement cost on the wall and roof. The tree will be another $7500 to replace if we go with the a small tree.

Other than that, everything here is just peachy keen. Work, gym, dog/cat, house, work, gym, dog/cat, house, travel, travel, travel.

Myra: I am in the same boat! I'm having a hard time getting back on track...I start out really well breakfast/lunch and even up to dinner...the evenings lately have been a killer. I know part of the problem is stress and I need to find another way to deal with things rather than crunching/munching!

Lala: What a phone call to receive! My parents had a big tree come down on their house about 10 years ago on Christmas Eve due to high winds...it took part of the roof. Their damage was minimal compared to what you describe. Hopefully you'll be able to get things taken care of. It has to be hard overseeing that many properties.

I'm working tonight at WW and am looking forward to it. Being off 2 weeks wouldn't seem like it would make a difference but it has in my overall motivation/outlook. I'm also going to work on Wednesday and Sunday so that'll give me an extra boost. The extra $$ will be nice too because I had my car repaired between Christmas and New Year's (front shocks and a ball joint) and I need to pay off the bill. Lucky for me I have a great mechanic that I've gone to for over 20 years!

Weather here has been gloomy--we've had snow pretty much every day and we're supposed to get a mix of snow, sleet later on today. It'll make the drive home this evening an interesting one.

Hi Melissa-
Thanks for the sympathy. Its ugly and insurance will not cover the brick mason and replacement on such an old house. Yikes.

I am getting back on track. I had quite the ugly meeting with the scale and my pants are sooo uncomfortable. Anyways, I am weighing in on Friday and we'll see how we fared.

Nothing much else happening here. I see that Myra has returned!
