A few of us in the weight lifting & resistance training subforum belong to Crossfit or do Crossfit style workouts. I love Crossfit.

My sister did Crossfit for a while and she dropped 50 pounds ~ she really loved it. A friend of mine also does it and she looks amazing ~ she's totally ripped and looks like she has no body fat whatsoever.

KellyMarie90, and nelie.. Can you expand on what you like about crossfit?

I've been thinking of joining as they just started crossfit at my gym. Thanks!

Jojo,

I've always enjoyed weight training but Crossfit is totally different than other experiences I've had. I went to my first Crossfit workout 6 or 7 months ago? I was hooked. There is a comraderie that you don't see elsewhere and I'm a fairly shy person but I liked it. The workouts are challenging but you know they don't last forever. You are encouraged to push yourself and you have a time limit so you are racing, every time.

Also, our gym incorporates olympic weight lifting as part of our workouts. So you get to lift heavy stuff, which is fun. You can see your improvement as time goes along. All I can say it is fun and challenging.

I agree with Nelie...
Like I said, I only started yesterday but the crossfit gym I go to is all about community which is awesome!
The workouts are definitely challenging, although short.
Yesterday we did a leg workout that was 8 rounds of 20 seconds of full squats followed by holding a squat for 10. It might not seem like it would be that hard but its intense!
I also dont think id have the personal motivation to complete the rounds without the support of others around me and I'm fairly in shape these days. If I were alone I'd probably quit before the end or not push myself to beat my reps.
Crossfit is all about training for all aspects of fitness. Someone who has been doing it longer can probably explain it better but you should definitely check it out!

Thanks KellyMarie and nelie for the information. I will probably at least try crossfit and then decide if I want to join. It really does look like an excellent way to train, as well as being fun and challenging.
