Default One Month Update

Today marks one month into eating healthier. I have lost nearly 10 pounds and feel so much better. I don't think I look different, but I certainly feel great. I don't know why I don't eat healthy all of the time, not just to look thin, but because of the huge difference in how I feel on a day-to-day basis.

My accomplishments are:
I lost 9.7 pounds.
My jeans don't hurt. I don't dread getting dressed. LOL
Stayed on plan every day and didn't feel deprived a single day.
Am on week 2 day 3 of the couch to 5K program. Hoping to jog a 5K in March if my knees can handle it, so far no knee pain.

I use LoseIt to track my calories. Today I looked into changing the settings to lose 2 pounds per week, but it put me at 1000 calories. At 1.5 lbs loss per week, I am at 1275. I think 1200 calorie range is much more doable for me than 1000, and changing it would only put me at goal 3 weeks sooner, not really worth feeling deprived and possibly binging/giving up because of it, so I guess I will keep it at my current settings.

So, it is the last day of the first month of the year. How has your month gone?

Great job, aimeebell! That is quite an accomplishment to lose 10 pounds in a month! I also started calorie counting this month and I have been sticking with around 1650-1800 calories per day. I don't feel deprived and calorie counting is actually a lot easier than I originally thought. I've lost 6 pounds and hope to keep it up and be at my goal weight around June. Great work, again!

Thanks and good job back at you for your 6 pounds loss this month! You had already lost quite a bit of weight before you began calorie counting. Were you just eating less and more healthy foods or following a different plan? June is a good time to hit goal, right around spring!

Thanks I lost my 75ish pounds by changing the way I ate quite drastically. I went from McDonald's, corn dogs, M&Ms, and lots of beer, to water, veggies, chicken, and fruit. It took a long time, and then I maintained between 195-200 for about a year. I ate what I wanted and worked out a lot, but then realized that I was overeating healthy foods and I wanted to lose another 25-30 pounds, so I started counting calories -- and I really enjoy it!

Congrats! That is a lot of weight to lose, especially considering that you don't have *that* much to lose to begin with!

I'm with you that keeping it to 1000 calories per day is just a little too restrictive. For me, it's a recipe for a lot more slip ups and frustrating days.

Right now, I'm hovering between 1200 and 1400, but I really need to tighten the belt a bit and keep it on the lower end.

I'm pretty active though, and with my job am on my feet for 10 hours straight, walking about 10-13 miles in that time. And then adding exercise on to that, it's hard to go with the lower cals sometime.

Mostly because I get whiney.

Great Job Everyone.
January started very slow for me however on this last day of the month I am happy to say that I have lost 11.8 pounds and I have exercised 6 days a weeks for the entire month. Not very noticable by sight yet, but I feel great. I have so much more energy and I am so motivated.

Have a great Day!

Congratulations to all of your on your success this month! Hearing your stories and seeing you reach your goals is helping me to stay motivated, and I am really thankful that you share them here.

I just began calorie counting and trying to lose weight 2 weeks ago (Jan 18). I don't know what my weight was on that day, but I've lost 12.8 pounds since Jan 3 by cutting my calories to 1300-1500 per day. And, in what might be an even bigger accomplishment for me, I've started going to the gym! I've started slow with 30 min of fast walking on the treadmill, but anything is way better than what I was doing before (which was nothing). I don't see any changes in how I look and I don't expect that I will for a while (though my jeans fit a bit better!), but I feel awesome about doing something good for myself - which is so different than how I felt about my body, my weight, myself before this. I know I haven't gotten that far yet, but I am really proud of myself.
