Hormones, particularly testosterone, play a huge role (More testosterone = better response to exercise and faster increase in muscle mass, both of which aid in building muscle, which burns more calories). Also, women's bodies have more complex mechanisms to maintain body fat, intended biology-wise to help us keep body figures with enough fat to support a pregnancy.

Gah! Its the mystery of men, lucky *******s. Hahaha. I always find it interesting how on television there's always the fat guy with the super thin hot wife and three kids when its biologically a lot easier for the guy to lose weight so opposite? Silly shows and silly cultural expectations.

I have to force food down this guys throat to try to gain weight and it's just not happening! Lol, so I'm forcing him to take protein substances now.

Yeah, my BF is 6' and under 128 right now. He eats all the time but can't maintain his weight. Even all the added protein doesn't help.

The things is, though, it's hard to be on that side of the fence, too. He wishes he could put on weight.

At least we have 3FC though! A female dominated weight loss forum is sooooo much nicer than those co-ed ones, in my experience.

We're Co-Ed here, too, and just recently started the Men's Corner so our male members would feel more accepted.

Yeah, I see what you mean. He hasn't really gotten frustrated yet but he does get concerned about how he keeps dropping weight and he is eating all he can. Although his work is now cutting into his "eating time" now and he only eats once a day, I convince him some days to eat when he comes home and I still try to get him to take breakfast.

Maybe he will figure out something soon, probably needs another doctor visit.

My guy weighs 145lbs and even at my healthy weight goal I will still weight 10lbs more than him! He thrives on carbs and starts to lose scary amounts of weight when he doesnt get enough and if I even look at an uncooked box of pasta i put on 3lbs. Life's not fair when it comes to weight loss. I still blame Eve and her darn apple!

I took a weight training class in my spring semester, and there was this guy who complained about how the class was making him lose weight. "Ugh, I'm so skinny!" I wanted to pull my hair out!! Of course I imagine its more difficult for men to find support if they're trying to lose weight, but still. SO frustrating. I know women's bodies need to hold onto fat to have babies, but I don't want any babies now!

They have more muscle mass than we do, plus the different hormones play a part also.

Ladies, I'm here to tell ya, IT DOES CATCH UP TO THEM

Mine hit 30 last year, and I don't know what it is about 30... he has gained 20 pounds. Of course it could also be 3 regular meals a day that I make for him (although they are healthy). He was NOT happy on the scale. I weigh 40 pounds less than him, for the first time in our relationship. It feels good to be the smaller one, but I don't think it's at all healthy. So he's gonna work on it and enrolled in the new Doctor Oz program.
