Howdy, christine and welcome! Eat less, move more! I know that sounds overly simplistic and no doubt it is, but that's really what it all comes down to no matter what you are eating (or giving up eating) or if you are bicycling, jogging, dancing, lifting weights, whatever. One of the great things about 3FC is the variety of food choices/lifestyles that are represented so whatever you might want to try, someone here has an idea about it. As far as I can tell, almost all plans will work for someone, but not all will work for everyone.
I personally like counting calories, trying to eat well with less processed foods, no junk, no restaurant food, no regular soda, and low but good kind of fat.
For exercise, I started out walking just around the block last year and it was a struggle. I have a bulging disc and found that bicycling gave me some exercise while taking the pressure off that disc and helped make my other muscles stronger so that now I can hike 15-20 miles a week and/or bicycle. I cannot imagine going to the gym to exercise...blech!...but lots of people cannot imagine deliberately leaving the car and climbing up a mountain in 30 degrees and snow :-)
Is there something specific you were thinking about doing?
