Default s/o biggest loser 7Xweight=calories?

So does anyone do this? Anyone do it on purpose, or just it happens to be that way for you?

I'm really thinking of giving this a shot for a while and seeing what happens.. it would mean bumping up my calories a decent amount... which I would feel the need to counter with added exercise. I'm not the biggest exercise fan so I'm not so sure it would work that way for me.. sigh. Oh the drama of weightloss...lol.

I personally think that for most people 7x your weight is too little or too much depending on your weight. I will be interested to see what others say though

That would mean that I only get 828 calories. I burn more than that in 1 work out. I don't think that would be very helpful in the long run, it would be detrimental.

For those of you under 150, it says to use 150 as your X7 number so you would eat 1050 calories.. which to me seems low. Over 300lbs is supposed to use 300 so they would eat 2100.

Right now for me it would be just over 1700 which is 200-500 more than I eat in a day.. usually I'm more towards 1200 than 1500 so it would usually mean a great addition of calories for me a day. I'm usually content on the calories I have, but some days I definately feel I need to find some of Robin's volume foods magically appearing in my pantry..lol

With that equation I'd be eating about 400 more calories a day. I'm losing about 2lbs per week now...unless I was working out all the time I can't see it being a good number.

That puts me at 1547, which is just about 100 calories less than Livestrong calculates for me.

1050? HA! That'll be the day...

OTOH, Fawn, I think 1200-1500 is low for your weight. You might want to at least think about cycling in a couple higher days. I rarely eat less than 1600.

This method puts me at about 1600. That seems high to me...but I'm sure I consume WAY more than that - I've just never kept track. I like the cycling idea too. I've always tried strict plans...but I've never counted calories. I started today!! So far soooo good!

Not for me. That would be 1645 right now. I cycle and my 2 high days are 1600, rest of the week is 1350.

I do somewhat cycle. I have on average 3 days that are in the 1500 range.. usually they happen on the weekends when I am cooking more meals and things for the family (during the week at lunch the kids are content with sandwich type meals but once dad is home they think they need things with more umph behind it..lol). The rest of the week I try to stay a bit lower... and it seems to be working for my super slow metabalisim... esp since I'm not a huge fan of exercising right now..lol

It's what I was trying to do, actually, though not on purpose. I didn't do a calculation, I just dropped to 1000 calories. I can tell you that has not worked. I'm increasing them now along with the exercise. I've had a wicked two month plateau and in the past four days of doing this I've lost almost a half pound per day.

Personally at your weight you should be eating 1600-1800 per day (My starting weight was 210). I successfully lost almost 40lbs on 1800 calories per day and I never dropped my intake at all (worked out 4-5x per week at about 45-50minutes cardio 30minutes lifting). Why not start off higher and then drop later if your not losing after a few weeks?

Here is a great site to figure your calories:
