Hello and welcome to the Thin Group! We are a great group of ladies (but men are welcome if there are any who care to join us) who have one thing in common. We are all working together toward our goal of being healthier in our daily lifestyles and to lose weight. There are all different ages and backgrounds here and we all have different ways of losing our weight. We all love to have fun and laugh, but we also give a lot of support, encouragement and motivation for one another. Everyone has their ups and downs and we’ll be here with you thru both! Please feel free to post with us - just jump right in and believe me, you will be welcomed with open arms. The more the merrier!
Good morning girls - Well, well, well, - look who finally earned the title of BRAT! Way to go Slyvia!
Still trying to get better from this horrible head cold ... plus still getting my knee back to normal ... swelling is way down but still hurts. I think I'll live tho. Well, we have had a few snowfalls up here in the last couple weeks ... but yesterday we actually had 2-3 inches! It actually looks gorgeous!
Can't stay long ... son and DIL are here and got to get coffee on .. will be back later on I hope. Just wanted to drop in and say hello.
Hi guys.
Just a quick note as I am off to Michigan to get the things out of my Dad's garage since we sold the house.
Hey Sylvia, yes you sure did start a new thread and beat old CJ to boot. LOL Good for you, now you know what you will get don't you? YOU BRAT BRAT BRAT BRAT BRAT! There doesn't that feel good to join in the BRAT PACK? HA HA Well that's what you get for starting the new thead. HA HA No really good job on starting it, and it went well didn't it?
CJ-Poor thing, sure hope your head cold gets better soon. Have lots of fun with you son and DIL. Sure wish you were in Royal Oak and Ken and I could see you and Dick, but maybe next time. Snow already? Wow no snow here yet in Indiana, but it probabaly won't be too long till we get some.
Take care everyone and oh ya Jo, glad to have you back with us and don't worry we all have our slumps and you sound like yours is a thing of the past. Glad you posted and don't stay away again so long, got it? Or else, wow I wouldn't really ever hurt you, but if that works why not? HA HA My gosh you have sure went through alot, between your eye surgery and the biopsy. I will be praying for you that the results come back fine. Keep a positive head and it will help you get through this.
Talk to you guys when I come back, we will be staying at Chrissy's for a few days and than on to Ken's family on the other side of town to see them. His sister is undergoing really aggrasive Chemo for breast cancer and is not doing well. She has been through so much this year, first about 4 months ago her husband had an anurism and suddenly died and now this. They are treating her with chemo now, but in March she still has to get her breast removed regardless. Poor thing no one should have to endure all she has to in such a short period of time. So we will see her and try to cheer her up.
Where the heck is everyone? I am in Michigan at SIL Chrissy's house and decided to get on her computer and check out if anyone else had posted after me and saw that no one has. So come on guys post and let us know how you are doing.
Well things went fine here so far, we got everything loaded in the U-Haul and unhitched it and have it in Chrissy's back yard till we leave tomorrow to go to the other side of town to go see Ken's family. I am having lots of fun with Chrissy, and her daughters Emily and Ellen, never have had so much fun as when I with that bunch. We just laugh all the time. Chrissy is doing pretty good, she has a new job now. No longer working in the hospital as a nurse, but is on the Ask A Nurse phone line now helping people who call in. She only works 3 days a week now and really likes doing this and helping people out who need it. She has kept herself busy too, today she is working the poles working for a friend of her's whose husband is running for Judge. Gosh it has been 3 years since my brother, Rick and her husband was murdered and she is doing such a great job trying to built a life for herself without Rick. I think she is such an amazing woman, so strong, still keeping her sense of humor and trying to stay focused on what needs to be done. I don't know how she does it, but her daughters are a big reason I know. They have turned into such beautiful girls, so funny, loving and thoughful. They are both in college going to Wayne State University in Detroit. Emily wants to be a speech therapist for the elderly, to help people who have had strokes learn to talk again and Ellen is going to be a writer and I have read some of her papers the way she writes is wonderful. Yes they are all doing great and I keep tellling her to come back and post here again, but she is so busy going going going all the time, maybe one day she will surprise all of us and pop in. I hope so.
Have seen my Dad in the assisted living home as well and he is doing good as well. When we went yesterday to take him to lunch I had brought him one of those plastic pumpkins just filled with candy and my gosh his eyes lit up when he saw it. He just loves candy and has a couple of pieces every day and when I come back the next time it is all gone and I always bring him more. Hey at 85, who cares? He still has his Lymponia/cancer, but so far it hasn't even bothered him, he still doesn't want to have treatment/chemo ect, but it is his decision and he may live a good many years if it is slow growing. So all is well with him, I love seeing him and treasure my time I spend with him.
When we went to the house yesterday to load the stuff up that we had stored in the garage, I called the guy that bought it and told him I was there and he said to go on in the house and gave me the lock box combination. It is going to be for sale and he completely gutted the house and so far had painted it and he is doing all sorts of things to it before he sells it. It will look beautiful I think. I took a last look around and had a little cry thinking of all the wonderful memories I had there growing up since I was 4 in that house and it not being my families anymore. But hey life goes on and nothing is forever is it? Everyone's life changes and we move on so to speak and I still will have those beautiful memories always.
Well good talking to you and hope I have some company soon, I am getting soooooo lonely here.
Good morning everyone … thought I would pop in and keep Sharon company and anyone else who wants to join in!

OK … off to post my journal … hope to hear from everyone soon!
I’m back!!! I missed everyone. I was gone for about 10 days…. Only saw Joanna for a couple of hours or so…. She looks great and is doing just fine….
We had a wonderful vacation doing the Elvis and the blues thing in Memphis and then onto Nashville where we had fourth row seats for the Grand Old Opry…. Had a wonderful time. My dad saw his first play and didn’t want to go as he felt it was kind of stupid to go watch someone pretend to be someone else…. It was Tammy Wynette’s life story… he lived through those years himself and didn’t see any since in it at all…. Well…. He praised it and thought it was one of the best things on the vacation… and then he fell in love with Minnie Pearl’s cousin at the General Jackson showboat and then the next day saw her at the Grand Old Opry…. He really liked her playing the Minnie Pearl role. He had his picture taken with her and praised her too…….. A good time was had by all.
I’ve been back about 2 weeks now…. Just trying to recoup from the vacation…. I have been so tired lately…. I go to bed early, wake up for work and keep slapping the alarm clock… Ugh…….
It is slow in here…. But if we all just keep coming back and posting a little bit… I haven’t taken the time to thoroughly read all the posts since I’ve been gone… but I thought….
JUDY/BLUNDER was a goner for sure……. Hehe…… you scared me into posting….. hehe….
KRISS I did see you were a newby and posted….. I hope you come back too… you are doing great on your weight loss and exercise program…….. keep up the good work…
JO/JELLO good to hear from you too….. good luck on the test results… I know it can be a pain having to wait so long for results…. Keeping my fingers crossed for you and saying a little prayer for you.
CJ/QUEEN You poor thing…. A bum knee and a cold….. drats… take care of yourself and hopefully you’ll be feeling much better before long.
WHO GOT THE NEW DELL DUDE? I read it but couldn’t find it again to acknowledge it…
SASSY SHARON Hope things look brighter for you now... and I miss you....... lets take it one meal at a time.... I think I fell into my halloween candy...... face first!!!
I’ve got to get back to work so everyone take care…..
Hugs to all Carolyn

I can see not much has happened since I was here last Thursday. Everyone busy, busy, busy, getting ready for the holidays?
I was kind of feeling down in the dumps and feeling really lazy on Saturday and even canceled plans with friends on Saturday and my aunt ended up calling me and her and my cousin came and spent the evening with me….. we had a nice dinner and I was thinking of taking them somewhere else for dessert…. We were to full for dessert so we decided to head for the casino downtown Detroit…. My aunt doesn’t get a chance very often to do this as she lives in Jackson. We had a wonderful time spending our money and then afterward we took a tour of Detroit. My aunt had not been down here in 4 years and I don’t think my cousin had ever seen Detroit at night….. so we headed for the Renaissance Center, Greek Town, Mexicantown, Fox Theater, Comerica Park, Ford Field and the old Tiger Stadium…. An old school where my aunt had gone to grade school was still in use and that was some 55 – 60 years ago that she went there…. We were quite surprised to see it still there. We had a great evening…. We swung by the two Coney Island Restaurants that Detroit it known for, the old sight where J. L. Hudson’s used to stand which is now where a new building is going up……. History in the making….. Detroit is coming back full throttle….. so much for feeling kind of yucky and lazy on Saturday because I had a great “unplanned” time…… hehe….
Now its Monday afternoon and I am ready for a nap as I’ve just had lunch. Actually it’s a really quiet day here at work, no management, no attorneys, just the secretaries are here as there is an office meeting for the entire day off site….. so…… I plan to do as little as I can get away with as my work is pretty much caught up…. Nice planning on my part eh? Hehe…….
I haven’t gained any weight nor have I lost any….. not good but not to bad for not even trying either way….. I’ll take a “no weight change” over a “weight gain” any day of the week… hehe……
I am going to have to go for now…. Everyone take care and be good…..
I know I haven't been in here for a while, I've been quite busy. I've been taking care of my Mother in law and driving her around. Unfortunately, I didn't get the Tiffany job I wanted that job. Pretty sad when I can't even get a Christmas job. Hopefully, I'll find something. I'm meeting with a temp agency tomorrow so hopefully they will have something.
Well, on Friday I went to my dietitian....you all know how much the dreaded weigh in is....well, I lost FIVE pounds!! I've lost 18 pounds since being laid off in February. I've also joined Curves for Women. I love that place....my own little sanctuary. I feel that it has made a difference. My husband thinks I'm nuts...I drive 35 minutes to go to Curves but wouldn't go up the street to the gym.
Well ladies, I've got to run and get my stuff ready for my meeting tomorrow.
Just checking in to say hi to everyone! Sorry, been fighting this terrible cold and busy doing other stuff. Have not been on the computer much (if you can believe that)! Right now the cabin is filled with DUST DUST DUST! We have been putting up knotty pine paneling and since Dick is cutting the wood inside (can't do it outside in rain & snow) well, what can I say? We are almost done now and I can clean it all up later today. The dust has not been too kind to my allergies - achoo! I am finally starting to feel "human" again ... getting rid of the nasty ole cold!
Sorry I am not addressing you all personally - accept to say to the "missing" members (you know who you are) GET YOUR BUTTS BACK IN HERE!
Well - off to do my dishes ... oh by the way -- I have all my christmas shopping DONE! Just a few more SS to get ... and wrap as soon as we get home which will be after Thanksgiving.
Sharon: Call me or I wil call you - we have some "catching up" to do.
Well, I just popped in for a quick hello. I'm having a fabulous day and am on ... Today was my weigh in and measuring day at Curves.... I LOST 11 INCHES,7 POUNDS & 1.30% BODY FAT!!! I'm doing the happy dance!
Ladies, we are all in this together...whether we come in here to post or not. I know you are out there....hopefully. Remembr that we are all human, we all go through those "funks" and we all get through it. We are lucky enough to have this support group. God brought us together in this forum for a reason...we all have a purpose in each other's lives. I hope you all come back even if it's just to say a quick "hello"
Slyvia - WTG!!! You go girl! You should be doing the happy dance! You have earned it! Keep up the good work. I'm not in a funk .. just have been busy ... have been trying to get myself back to journaling every day - not just now and then! I too wish everyone would post here more often .. don't understand why they don't - it doesn't matter whether there is 2 of us - 5 of us - or 10 of us .. it all equals support!
Come on guys - don't just "lurk" .. post too ... even if it's just to say hello, like Slyvia said ... We have been together much too long to let this thread die ... it only takes a minute to type a few lines - this thread will never get "busy" again if you all wait for the other person to post!
I'll be here tomorrow ... and I do hope I see some familiar "faces" in here!
YOOOOOHHOOOOOOO (echo) I know you're out there....I can hear you breathing!! Don't really have much to say but, I thought I would pop in for a hello.
I've been sticking to the Curves expercise program. I guess now that I know it works, it motivates me even more. I'm going to a "mini" reunion with my ex-coworkers. This should be fun, I haven't seen many of them since I was laid off in February.
Well CJ, it looks like it's just you and me. Good job on the journaling. My nutritionist wants me to journal but for some reason, I have a hard time doing it. That's good CJ, make them all feel guilty!!! Hopefully they will all start posting!
Well CJ and all of you lurkers (won't name names...you know who you are!) I'm off to make some dinner!
