Wink Need to start exercising

I have lost 8 pounds on SBD, and want it to come off faster so I know i need to add exercise to my daily routine. There is even a gym at my work. I need motivation to get up from my desk and go down there. Any opinions on if a treadmill workout or an elipitical workout is better then the other one?

Personally, I prefer the treadmill and i feel that they burn more calories; however, elliptical machines are great if you have any joint problems. I would suggest maybe spliting your time between the two? the main thing is that you are moving, however you chose to do that! you have to enjoy what you're doing to stick to it for the long run (i do that by pumpin some tunes!). Enjoy and have fun!!

Those are good cardio exercises but you need to add strength training 3 times a week for a complete workout.

I love the elliptical personally. It's my favourite workout machine even though I haven't been near one in forever (the gym I go to here doesn't have one).

I actually think that (if the machine calorie burn counter and popular opinion are to be believed), you burn more on an elliptical than on a treadmill even though the elliptical feels a lot easier (resistance not-withstanding) and less boring than the treadmill.

You can alternate and do both to keep it interesting.

You can look up some beginner weight training tips online! I like to focus on arms/core one day (push ups, bicep curls, rows etc) then legs/abs next time. I do agree that it's very important!

A good book is New Rules of Lifting for Women, it even comes with a workout program for 6 months.
