So I went shopping the other day and they had the Quaker "Quakes" on sale. They are mini rice cakes with various flavors. I would rarely buy something like this, but figured it's on sale and low cal, why not try it? I portioned them out into baggies per serving and everything. After eating them I had the WORST craving for more! I ended up eating more calories than I was even planning. Was the sweetness and crunch that addicting? Yikes!
I plan to eat an entire bag tonight... yup... that's right. Lol! I like the cheddar ones. My sister and I do a "bean dip". Layer of refried beans, layer of salsa and some cheese on top. Then I scoop the dip with the rice quakes. It's like our favorite meal. But I can't just count out 7 quakes (or whatever rediculously small number it is that constitutes a serving). I always eat the whole bag. I think I might make it a goal to not eat the whole bag tonight.
Haha, see that's the thing! You really can't stop until the darn bag is gone. I think one bag is 3 servings, so it's like 300 calories for the bag. Like anything else you just have to plan the calories.
I got some Blackberry Pomegranate ones, but I thought they tasted too sweet. But I think if I had the cheddar or other "salty" flavors I might be in trouble.
I love the chocolate ones. Anyone eat the puffs (not rice cakes) called Pirate's Booty? I love the pizza ones. I can only find them at the health food store.

Crunchy, salty poofs of yumminess...
hmm, that sounds good. I like tortilla chips and salsa, but it's too high cal. I'll have to try the rice cakes and salsa. I miss being able to eat a whole bag of something!
If you plan to eat the whole bag then they are fine. If you don't plan to eat the whole bag and end up doing that anyway then they are probably a trigger food for you and should be avoided. They sound very tasty though!
They are extremely delicious. I usually get the big ones or the 100 calorie packs because it helps me from over eating. From the sound of it you may want to do the same. Lol!
lol... My family has stopped buying chips all together and have started eating rice cakes with lunches and for snacks... I love them a little too much also! lol...
