Default Advice needed on skirt length please

My weight loss and exercise regimen has resulted in the best legs of my life so my calf length skirts just aren't going to cut it anymore, I'm going above the knee. But how far above the knee can a 50 year old go and not look totally age-inappropriate?

This is one weird stage of my journey. Even before the 100 lb. gain at age 30 I was so self concious about being a big girl that pretty much if something fit, I bought it. Now I want every outfit I put on to look my absolute best.

I try for just enough above the knee so that some narrowness shows there. Man this is hard to explain ... if I cut myself off mid-calf I look like my legs are that heavy all the way up. If I reveal some of the definition, that is the knee joint, one could assume that my legs are that slim. If I go any higher, you can see that my thigh widens ... and could be huge under there.

And there's the business of needing to be able to sit down A straight skirt? mid knee cap. A flared skirt is a bit more forgiving and can be a little shorter.

I wouldn't go much more than a couple of inches above the knee and you should be fine. You might have to get the 'perfect' skirt hemmed but that could be well worth the $10 or so you'd have to pay.

I think if you stay away from the teen department and eliminate mini skirts in general, then you can still show off your beautiful gams and still look age appropriate

Enjoy!

Ok so we are close to the same height and weight. I like my skirts just above the knee when tailored and mid-knee cap when they are kind of flouncy. Of course some are clearly designed to be longer and the go below calf to look best. Been wearing a lot of skirts lately cause it makes me feel girly!

Similar stats here, so I'm guessing you have long legs? I think you can handle a shorter-length skirt, depending on the cut, material and what kind of shoes you're wearing with it.

I'm 51 and don't wear skirts that often (country girl), but in the summer I love skorts - you know, the shorts that think they're a skirt! Now that I think about it, I like shorter- length shorts better than longer-length shorts too; maybe it's the proportions if you have longer legs?

And in the winter, shorter skirts with boots are nice.

I'm 49 and I wear my skirts several inches above the knee.

I think it depends on the shape of your leg.

I like stretchy skirts that hug my hips and narrow at the thigh-- that's a very flattering look for me because my legs are my best feature (if I do say so myself.) anything that cuts in at the narrow part of the thigh makes me look thinner.

Pair the shorter skirt with heels to really show off that calf muscle too!

Ha! Yes, my legs are long, but I'm short-waisted and that's where I carry my weight. So I LOVE to show off my legs to draw attention AWAY from my tummy.

My legs are long and depending on the type of skirt results in how short I would go. I do what I like. Jean skirts are a bit shorter than dressy skirts. Right now the flair, black skirt sits 4" above my knee and I love it. Yes, I measured it with my ruler. lol
