Default infertility

Did anyone have any success with injectable fertility treatment? I just finished my second month on clomid and I have an apt to see my RE next week to discuss injectables. The fist month on clomid I ovulated but my progesterone was low (8) and so they increased it to 150mg for the second month (was 100 mg). So this past time I did not ovulate. I had 2 ultrasounds, day 11 and day 15 and both times my follicles were very small. So they recommend gonadatropins. I have to go to an injection class and then I see the dr to discuss. Did anyone have any luck? Oh, and this is in addition to IUI's. Thanks

Probably no help at all - since I took clomid a loooong time ago but the twins are turning 25 in a couple weeks and they are clomid babies. :-)

I can't give much info on injectibles, but I have heard of others having a lot of success with them. I got pregnant off my first IUI in May...but we lost the baby this last weekend. A lot of PCOS women really don't respond to Clomid at all...I didn't. I used Femara with the IUI in May. I wish you SO much luck!!

Thank you. I'm so sorry to hear about your loss. Thats another down side to PCOS, for some reason we miscarry more frequently. Well, I will find out soon enough. The waiting is killing me! At this point I don't even care if I get pregnant with triplets...

Ha, funny you should say that...I have triplets from a combo cycle of Clomid and injectibles with IUI. It's much more common to have a singleton or twins, though. Good luck!

Lucky you. I don't know how you did it! How many months of treatment did it take you to get pregnant? I just got my progesterone test results 0.53. I definitely did not ovulate on clomid so I'll see the md tues to talk about injections.

Hope I'm not asking a silly question but have you by chance tried metformin or metformin and clomid? I too have pcos and it took 5 years to get pregnant with my daugther.

My story.....First we did clomid and that did not work. Went to a fertility specialist and took injections for a year Not 1 positive....I took a year off and asked my regular docfor metformin (RE did not even suggest it) and my doctor was reluctant. Started off on 500, then 1000, then after 1 1/2 months at 1500...SURPRISE. Something else to keep in mind, I think PCOS'ers have more miscarriages b/c of low progesterone. I almost lost my baby b/c of it and had to be on supplements for 12 weeks but she was born perfect! If I had not called my RE I would have never had the blood test to know my level was too low to stay pregnant..but luckily you will be monitored.

I know I am new but I wanted to wish you the best of luck...infertility is SO hard.

I was told to try losing wieght, getting my thyroid under control and then get preggers. SO far i have gotten only one of those things accomplished. Clomid so far is not in my realm but I might have to use it. I had used depo birth control shots for 7yrs. I think my body might be all confused now.

I have been on metformin in the past but not with clomid. I got pregnant with my son (now 3) on 3 months of clomid. This time around I am about 50lbs heavier so Im sure that has a lot to do with it. I did ovulate on 100mg of clomid but my Progesterone is low. I asked for supplements but they said they just increase the clomid. So the 2nd month I tried 150mg and did not ovulate. They immediately said lets skip to injections. I have an appointment tomorrow with the RE and I will ask about metformin. I exercise but know I need to be more consistant and I am going to re-try the insulin resistant diet. I figure in the meantime I have to lose weight. Thanks for the input Jamieheld!

Oh, I forgot to add that I was kept on metformin (as well as progesterone sups) until after the first trimester was over. According to my RE, it also helps slash the miscarriage rate for us. Sorry to go on and on LOL

Best of luck to all and good luck tomorrow willow324!!!!

thanks! It was actually very bad. Im still a little sad about it.
She explained to me that in a normal ejaculate a man produces a minimum of 59 million motile sperm...my husband produces about 5 million. She said lets hold off on all treatment until he goes to a urologist. If the urologist doesn't find anything physically wrong that can be fixed she doesn't feel like it will work for me. She scheduled me for a HSG (I have never been violated so much in my life!) just to make sure my fallopian tubes are clear. If that comes back OK, and my lab work on the 2nd day of my cycle comes back OK (to verify PCOS vs pituitary problem) then she will start me on clomid AND injectables with IUI. But she said if it doesn't take in a couple tries she will refer me to IVF which is not covered by my insurance. She also mentioned my weight and suggested I start a 'weight loss program'. I definitely feel like this is a huge turning point in my life. When I got pregnant with my son I was 175 and responded to clomid... now I'm 220. Last year after I had my annual check up my dr told me to lose weight, I was 213. I keep gaining! I feel like if i want to have more children I must lose weight!

That makes me sad to know you did not get good news. Hopefully they will be able to do something to help him. Someone once told me that clomid can help men in that area but I have no clue if that is true.

I had an HSG and was totally freaked about it and can honestly say that it really did not hurt at all. I heard from others than it really only hurts if there actually is a blockage. Getting poked and prodded is definately no fun at all.

I've always felt like PCOS was a double edged sword. When you lose weight your symptoms improve yet the PCOS makes it harder to lose weight...it just stinks!
