Good morning everyone! Let's get off to a good start this morning, and encourage one another throughout the week.

I'll be drinking my protein shake for breakfast to start my day. I'll have vanilla gladiator with strawberries and blueberries. That's a little more than 200 calories, and very few carbs. I'll pay close attention to how long it lasts before I'm hungry again.

Today is the 31st anniversary of my father's death, at age 74 from cancer. He was a "good man" with a sharp wit, sometimes sarcastic, very generous in word and deed, and could do complicated math in his head but couldn't understand why everyone couldn't!

Mornin' chicks, I hope everyone is already planning for a successful week. I am going to start my day with positive self talk and try to continue it throughout the day!

Rhonda, I would love to hear how long it is before you get hungry. Please let me know! I hope you will spend some time concentrating on the good times you had with your dad. When you talk about him, I get the feeling that he was a great guy but might have been a little hard to deal with sometimes. My dad was a very giving, caring man, but you had to dig sometimes to find that part of him. He was a little gruff, but we loved him

I drank the protein shake with 1 cup of frozen blueberries and 4 large strawberries about 8:15 and went to aquafit from 9-10. At 10:30 I noticed I was hungry and now, 11AM, I'm having an apple, "light" cheese stick, 10 almonds and a BIG glass of water. I figure that at just about 450 calories.

We're going to go see Knight and Day about noon, and thank goodness movie popcorn does not appeal to me.

Sloan, my Daddy was loved and respected by lots of people. He was an electrician who had his own business in a small town. He also was a binge drinker with some negative consequences. I was certain that "everyone" knew it, but it turns out that none of my friends in high school really did (or at least say they didn't). He had had a rough life in his youth (mother died when he was young, father was rough, etc) and he was depressed much of his adult life. He was involuntarily institutionalized when I was a teen and was given shock treatments. He said they made him feel better but he did have some memory loss that he regretted. All in all, though, he was proud of his accomplishments and his children.

I am off to run errands and find the Smoothy King in town...

Rhonda ..do you make it with water or milk???

While we are talking about dad's . Mine passed away in 1998.
The same year my hubby ran off with his secretary.. That was a rough year...
He was with me visiting my brother's family and had a heart attack.
We got him to the ER but they could not save him. It gives me comfort that
he was surrounded with his whole family and all his grandkids his last day.
He was the most generous, humble man I have ever known. He never knew an enemy and people loved him the minute they met him.
We got him a framed poem for his mantle that was titled
"Grandpa doesn't care"
He doesn't care when I pick his green tomatoes, lose his keys, spill my ice cream, and the list goes on...
One of my favorite things was how when you left from visiting he would help you load the car and keep talking and follow you down the drive ,like he was going to follow the car all the way home. That makes me smile to just think about.
I sorta do the same thing with my kids now.. Check their tires as they drive off ..LOL.

Hi Ladies

Had a wonderful day yesterday and evening watching the fireworks. The were in 3 D form as they were so close to us we felt like we could touch them. Before that we had hot dogs hamburgers & potato salad.

This morning I went for my MRI and had to travel around the hospital for that. They told me when I made the appointment to register at the Faxon bldg but when I got there the sign told people to go to the ER instead. I had pass by the ICU and made me a little queasy. The tech told me the doctor will get the report in a few days.

When getting out off the hospital the temps & humidity was so bad that I decided to go home and stay in my a/c house. The radio recommended that also. Traffic off the Cape is a nightmare my next door neighbor is heading right into it,he has to go to Syracuse NY. TG I live here all year round.

W-I today and I lost 3 lbs. I assume that I hadn't had any heavy dinners in the last few days, didn't cook to avoid a hot kitchen,so salad and sandwiches were on the menu.

RHONDA-Thanks for the new pages, 31 years losing your father to cancer, I lost mine 21 years ago,and now it going to be a year in Nov that I lost my Leo. What Kind of protein shake do you use. I use the Designers brand. The flavors in choc, van & strawberry. Just going to eat lite in order to get my weight down.

SLOAN-That the best way is to think and act positive.

NANCY-That's a beautiful poem,thanks for sharing.

Have to go,expecting the electrician to come to fix my out door lamp pole light switch.

Nancy, I use water because that's what the instructions say. Maryann, we're talking about a protein powder from Smoothie King, called Gladiator.

I'm enjoying the Dad stories. And, Maryann, I still can't walk into a hospital without wishing I were really somewhere else. And, my husband died at home and 24 years ago.

So, I was hungry again at 2:30, 3 1/2 hours after the snack. I made lunch my main meal and had meat loaf, squash and turnip greens from the Black-Eyed Pea (no bread). I'll see if they have the calorie count posted on-line.

Good afternoon, Chickies. I'm off to a good week, too. Had physical therapy this AM then did some training after lunch. Now I'm just chillin' taking it easy in the recliner.

My eating's been good today. I had a shake, too, but it's not a protein shake. It's made with sf/ff vanilla pudding mix and frozen fruit. The one I had today was made with frozen Mandarin oranges.

I miss my father, too. He passed away about 28 years ago, but it seems like just yesterday he was walking around singing "It's Such a Pretty World Today. Look at the sunshine.....Every day's the same since I met you....."

It sounds like we're all "Daddy's Girls." That makes me smile.

Rhonda, thank you for bringing up these memories.

I'm OP.

DH and I have been working outside all day. Boy is it hot! I've been op all day, and with the sweating I'm hoping I'm headed in the right direction.

I like the dad stories, too. Rhonda, my dad had a rough time growing up, too. Sandra, when you mentioned that your dad sang, it reminded me that my DD has a voice mail of my dad singing Happy Birthday to her. I have not listened to it, yet. I don't think I'm ready to hear his voice.

I still have some work to do outside, but I had to wait for DH to help me so I came in to check on y'all. I'll BBL

Just reporting the hunger pangs. I was not hungry after lunch until about 7:15, just about 5 hours after eating. I've just had the protein shake with peaches canned in water and a few blackberries.

My Daddy didn't sing, but my mother did.

Sloan, you're bound to lose after today's working and sweating.

Rhonda, you're doing great. Do you freeze your fruit before making a shake? I do.

I'm op.

We got so much done today! It feels really good to do routine things. I have stayed op, too! I didn't get to do the bowflex. Maybe tomorrow.

C'mon Nancy, lets stay op tomorrow! I will, if you will

Rhonda, sounds like your plan is keeping you feeling full.

Sandra, how many calories do you think your shakes are?

Have a good night, y'all!

OK, I had the last protein shake around 7PM and I was not hungry last night and did not wake up hungry. It's now almost 7AM and I'm hungry. I think I'll wait though to have the shake around 8:15 and then go to aquafit. Todd said to eat something about 45 minutes before exercise.

Sandra, the blueberries are frozen but I'll try freezing the other fruit too. I have a stash of frozen bananas I could use. Of course, they are very high in carbs.

OK, Nancy and Sloan...let's get those 5 pounds off! (Nancy, your ex sounds like my brother!)

Good Morning Chicks! Up early to take Jim to see the wound specialist at the hospital for his heel. Internist is wanting to be cautious since Jim is diabetic. Then, I hope, more swimming, WITH Jim. We'll see what the Doctor says.

I hope to be back later or in the morning to catch up.

Be well and be on program! I stayed the same yesterday.
