Hi
I strongly suspect that I have this condition also. I read a book 10 or so years ago describing a certain Drs. feeling that some cases of obesity were due to an inability to convert carbs to glucose.
I have had chronic low blood sugar at least 25 years. When I was twenty I have a measured blood sugar of 42. I suspect that this goes back farther.
It appears that this is a heriditary thing that goes back down my fathers side of the family. It is expressed the worst in me.
I have chronic low blood sugar but do not show the other signs of insulinemia such as elevated cholestoral, high blood pressure, etc. My levels are on the low side of normal except for my weight which is 50 lbs too high. I gain weight with anything over enough carbs to stay out of ketosis. The glycemic index of the carbs does not seem to matter.
I am not diabetic. I moniter my blood sugar levels with a glucose meter and am unable to go above 125 and it drops rapicly back down to under 100 within a couple of hours.
I do not have PCOS which is a common side problem with insulin resistance. This makes my problem all the more baffling as I none of the problems associated with syndrome x.
Both of my parents had carbohydrate metabolism problems.
I inherited a libray of medica literature from my mom who was an RN. I have been unable to find anything resembling this condition in any of the literature. I have been searching the Internet and have found nothing either, This is not lactose intolerence, altho I have that also because I cant digest the lactose. I am European background which is not supposed to have lactose intolerence.
If anyone has any links or information on what to do please post. I havent gotten anywhere with the HMO on this as they still subscribe to the lowfat high carb stuff which is a disaster for me.
thanks
