Default Losing my hair?!?!

The past few days Ive noticed my hair has defiantly been thinning out. Ive always had very thick hair but now it feels thin and I can see my scalp in places I couldnt before. I also noticed a lot more coming out in the shower and in my brush. My mom said its probably just shedding but I dont think so :-/ Im 23 and I believe overall healthy. I dont restrict my calories really. I try to stay around 1600-1700. Sometimes I go a little lower but not intentionally. I take a multivitamin and a hair, skin, and nails vitamin. Ive lost almost 50lbs since december. Has anyone else noticed hair loss with their weight loss and did it grow back?

Do you get enough healthy fats?
Like olive oil (or other oils) or avocados or nuts (not just their oils, but eating them)?

If yes, then I'd see your Dr as something could be off, if no then try adding those in and see if your hair loss stops/slows down.

But you may want to check with the Dr. just to be sure.

Oh wow that is like my number 1 fear in terms of weight loss... I feel like whenever I restrict my Cal intake I began to lose hair, even though I take vitamins and eat a pretty balance diet... well I agree with Gretchen.. Better go get a doc to check it out, maybe a blood test. Sometimes low iron intake causes hair loss among other things.

Richard Simmons said his hair was the result of 7 hair transplants since he lost his hair due to his weight loss. So yeah, weight loss can make you lose your hair, so can other health conditions like thyroid, or malnutrition or maybe pcos? It sucks. I have all of that and cried many tears. I bought one wig but I feel like a joke and a pornstar in it lol. So that lasted only 5 minutes.

Definitely go talk to a doctor. I personally have never lost hair due to my diet or weight loss (and I eat pretty low fat). It could be something else entirely.

I did a "low fat" diet in college, I lost hair by the handfuls. It was pretty scary. Getting enough healthy fat is a key priority for me!

So my bf just brought up a good point to me, he said women who are post pregnancy can lose hair because of hormone shifts and I recently stopped taking my bc pill, loestrin, back at the end of march and now Im reading that yes that can cause hair loss but Im so afraid it wont come back they say that starting another pill is the "treatment" for it. I dont wanna go on any more bc pills. I hate my doctor for giving it to me in the first place instead of just telling me YOUR PERIODS STOPPED BECAUSE YOURE INCREDIBLY OVERWEIGHT. I would have rather been called fat by a dr then given this crap

I was having problems with medication and PCOS about 10 years ago and lost a lot of hair. It was horrifying. But once my hormones got adjusted, it grew back. I'd see a doctor to determine the cause, so that you can deal with it.

Im glad to hear it grew back, I wasnt sure if it would grow back if it was a hormonal cause. The first appt I could get with my primary dr is june 22, and the first appt for the endorologist I found was SEPT 3! Im hoping maybe my doctor can refer me to another one with a sooner date available. Im just afraid they will tell me to start taking another bc pill to fix it, Id rather not play with that again.

I lost a lot of hair when I began the BC pill, a particularly high hormone one or acne. It never got as thick again, but I can tell that it's doing a lot better now, probably due to long term adjustment to a new pill and healthier diet
