Okay, I have to ask. Recently as I have started losing weight (finally) I have noticed chafing under my lower tummy spare tire and in the creases where my legs meet my upper private area. I sweat a lot in the area and am always trying to dry during the day. The areas are irritated and pinkish and I dunno what to do. PS, I am very perfume and dye sensitive, so any ideas without dyes or perfumes? Can I put baby powder so close to the, um, area?
There's a cream on the market for chafing, made specifically for athletes. I can't remember what it's called, but Goldbond makes a good cream. Also, making sure the areas are completely dry before you get dressed after a shower will help as well. I've had similar issues, and those are some of the steps I've taken. I'm not perfume sensitive, so I've just used lotion after shower and powder before working out. Good luck!
Monistat Soothing Care has a wonderful chafing relief product. Goes on like a gel and dries instantly to a soothing powder. Very long lasting. It is made for those 'intimate' areas. I buy it at Wal-Mart (in the feminine product aisle). I swear by it. It will give you the relief of baby powder but won't fall off or cake up if you sweat.
I know it sounds weird, but it also helps to gently (and by that I mean an arm's length away from the private areas and a lower heat) blow dry those areas then apply the Monistat. I think Lotrimin has also come out with a similar product.
I just bought some Monistat Soothing Care on my way through Michigan it's great. I can comfortably wear skirts and dresses without wearing shorts underneath. I love it. I'm not a powder fan, but I know that plain cornstarch works wonders, and isn't as irritating as baby powder (there are perfumes in baby powder).
I have never used this but copied this info from a similar post awhile back:
I love Sport Shield.
It's a competitor of "Body Glide" but I like it SO much better. Body Glide is waxy (I hated it) but Sport Shield is silky, feels light, and is silicone based. It's packaged like a liquid deodorant and you don't need much to last you through the day.
