Michelle's thread about our real names got me thinking about everyone's user names. Sometimes why someone chose a name is obvious, but sometimes not. And even the ones that you think are obvious may have a little twist to them.
So ...
What is the significance of your user name?
Mine is because reading is one of my favorite things to do. I keep a book blog, run two book clubs and work in a library. And I'm a girl, hence the 'chick' part.
I was miserable and unhappy so I decided that it was time to lose the weight. Even before I found 3FC, I started telling myself that it was time to lose so I was excited that the username Time2Lose was available!
There are too many Cat, Cathy's, Catherine's already.
I chose "Astrophe" like "Catastrophe" because at the time I chose it, I was feeling annoyed/crazy that no matter what variation of my name I picked...it was already taken! I'm not sure it was catastrophic in feeling, but "annoying" doesn't start with "Cat" so....
Mine is just a name that I have used for years in some chat forums. I originally used it because the guy I was dating bought me a windchime as a little gift so I thought it would be a cute chat name. I'm shy about giving out my real name in an arena where I post so much personal stuff, so I feel more comfortable being Windchime.
My kids and I moved back to the Kansas City area in 1996 and my son's new wrestling coach had trouble remembering my first name so he started calling me Mama with my last name and eventually all the kids in our wrestling club called me that and the parents and people from other wrestling clubs in the area knew me by that nickname as well. Those boys are in their 20's now (my son is now 25) and most of them still call me Mama and so does the old wrestling coach (who is now one of my best friends).
oo boy im ashamed to admit i named my self after my favorite flavor of ben and jerrys ice cream ... i felt i should be loyal to them cause they always 'stuck' by me? .... lolz i tht it was a cute name too though
Mescelestus is a grammatically incorrect way to say "I am wicked" in Latin...(Ego Sum Scelesti would be right I think)...I have used it since I was fascinated with Latin in early high school.
^^^ i love mulder too!!! I always think of his apt. when I see '42' pop up everywhere LOL
My name is Tracey, and my nephews call me crazy aunt trazey, and the 34 well... that's how old i was when i started using it. I'm a wee bit older now, but will never admit to it! ha!
Interesting one!! Mine came from my friend always referring to me as unique, but I hated being called that for some reason. So we settled on Gourmet. Bean came from the same friend, he would call me a jumping bean because I can never sit still. Gourmet Bean stuck since we were both addicted to caffeine and quit our addiction quite some time ago. It just worked!
