Default I've Never been past week 1 what keeps you going?

Hi my name is Katy and I'm 15 and I'm 147 pounds. I've always been the odd one out in the group because of my weight. Nearly all of my friends are under 117 pounds and I would like to be there too. But every time I attempt a diet I always quit after the first week. I know the first week is supposed to be really tough. What have you done to keep your modivation? Was it really tough for you in the first week as well?

Hi Katy,

Question for you...how tall are you compared to your friends? If they are short, and you're tall, then maybe under 117lbs is not the place for you to be. Just curious

Yes - week one is very hard. I've had lots of week ones over the years! I think you just have to get through things literally one day at a time. Today, if i can say not to potato chips, then tomorrow I can too!

Yeah, the first week is definitely tough. But once you're a couple weeks in you don't crave the bad things as much, and it gets a little easier.

You should look here to see where you might be healthiest. Since you're only 15, it would probably be best if you looked in the Small Frame column (charts like these are usually intended for women who are 18+).

What kind of diets have you tried?

thankyou for the advise! I'm "5"4 and I've tried the basic eating completly healthy diet. For instance lots of fruits and vegies, lean meats, brown rice, wheat bread, and water.

That's awesome. I'm glad you're not trying some crazy fad diet. :P If you continue eating healthily like that, you'll have no problem losing weight. All it takes is patience. And try not to give yourself any deadlines, because if you fail to meet them you might start thinking "What's the use?" and go out of control. Not good. Something you should expect to run into are plateaus. If you stop losing weight for a while, don't give up! It's totally normal. Good luck. <3
