How many days should I do resistance/scuplting in a week to start out with? I'm just starting that this week and have done it Monday and Wednesday. Is that enough or should I had a 3rd day in there as well?
The amount of days you do it is not as important as what you do.
For example, some girls will lift very light weights with an inefficient routine 5-6x per week that really do nothing, but some will lift 2-3x per week with heavy weights and a proven strong routine that will actually help build muscle.
If you could post your routine then it would be a lot easier to answer your question
I'm actually doing the sculpting part of the P90 workout. So it goes something like this...
7-15 normal push ups ~ then wide push ups ~ 7 wide 7 normal and 7 close
8-15 heavy pants ~ lawn mower(act like your starting a lawn mower)~ swimmers press
8-15 military press ~ can't remember off the top of my head what else I did here
8-15 something for triceps ~ tricep dips ~ and something else
8 lunges ~ 4 sets up lunges with 3 squats in between each one ~ 7 wide squats 7 normal and 7 really wide
I hope that makes sense. I do one set take a stretch break, do the next set with a stretch break and then do the last.. I use 5lb weights for now and feel like I'm getting a good workout at the time.
If you feel like you are getting a good workout, then continue. You will have to increase the intensity eventually (you will quickly outgrow those 5lb's!). Since you are doing something like a full body routine, I would suggest 3 days per week, adding another workout on Friday or Saturday.
I've done P90x but not P90, does it come with a program guide that tells you what days to do what?
It has been a long time since I've bought the program and don't have anything otherthan the dvd. I'm only using it for the sculpting and running on the other days. I do think thought that there were certian days you were supposed to do certain things and from what I remember it was a 6 day a weke program. Not sure if P90X is the same way or not..
I'm looking forward to the day that I'll outgrow those 5lbs weights! Some of the exercises I feel like I could use heavier weights but I don't currently have anything bigger then the 5lb. There are some exercises though that I struggle with the 5lbs.
I will do strength training usually three times a week. I prefer using heavier weights that really make me oomph, huff, puff and sweat lol. Works for me though
