I just had to share, because I know that at 3FC, you can all relate! I was going to go for a walk tonight but needed to run an errand on my way. Didn't want to do that in my exercise shorts and a t-shirt, so I looked in my closet for a warm-up suit jacket I had, but couldn't find the pants. I ran across another jacket, pulled out the sleeve (couldn't remember this one) and found the tag still on it. LOL Pants were with it too -- so I tried it on and......IT FIT!! My hubby had given it to me as a gift a few years ago and it hadn't fit, so I shoved it in the closet and had forgotten. Had I not needed something tonight, I wouldn't have even tried it. I put it on and the waist of the workout pants was perfect and not tight (I carry a lot of my weight in my stomach), the jacket zipped and wasn't skin tight, and I had room to move -- it was the most WONDERFUL feeling. I loved how it looked on me. I was happy all night, and I think I was walking faster and lighter because of it. :-) I never would have guessed discovering something fits could do so much to totally change my day and put a smile on my face for hours!
Congrats! My happy place is fitting into previously too small clothes. It's definitely a huge nsv being able to wear something that you remember was too small!!! Way to go on your progress & keep up the great work!
Last night I pulled a pair of shorts out of the bottom of the drawer. Note that us guys aren't as familiar with our clothes as you ladies are, I just pulled something out.
They fit but were more snug than the clothes I'd been wearing, so I was like "what the heck". I pulled them off and looked at the tag and they were a size smaller than the current size I was wearing. Was a great little pick me up moment.
these non-scale victories are so great. I have been recently frustrated that the numbers on the scale are going down soooo slowly even tho I have been eating carefully and exercising ALOT more, ( up to 2 hours most days) but today, after your post, I tried on the jeans i bought last year after losing some weight and reaching a mini-goal, (then stopped wearing them because I regained it) and voila, they not only fit, but I didn't even have to suck in my gut to zip them. I walked around wearing them for the morning with a big silly grin too.
So even when the scale doesn't show the numbers we look for, the body shows the changes!
Awww, thank you all so much for the encouragement and responses. I just KNEW you'd understand the excitement! Randomcards, congratulations on your fun discovery of the new smaller size in shorts, and Madeleine, yep, that silly grin is what I was talking about! Amazing little victory but huge reward, isn't it? My husband mentioned it yesterday, that he could see it my face and my kids had noticed it too. Kind of like the kid-on-Christmas-morning feeling!
Oh, funny little story to add. When I had that outfit on and felt so good and explained to the kids what happened, my 9 year old said, "So, you lost weight!" And I told him I had, and he said, "Cool! Now I don't have to get you anything for your birthday!" Silly boy! :-)
I had purchased some shorts for working out and I made the mistake of not trying them on. So when I did put them on you can guess that they were to small (I couldn't even get them closed). I threw them in the back of the closet and didn't look at them again for a few months. When I re-discovered them... they were a bit to big for me and fell down when I jogged!
Best feeling there is, Skullarix, other than the money you're out from flying right by that size. LOL Congratulations on your 42 lbs lost so far. Half marathon coming up? I'm impressed! Keep up the awesome work :-)
when i started with my diet, i had this pair of shorts that didn't even closely fit, and i thought to myself "when i fit into this, it's a success". i kept trying it on maybe once every 2 weeks, and at some point, it fit! (now it's too big haha)
so when it did fit, i went onward to this pair of trousers that i had since i was 19, and did the same routine with that.
